The highlight of any aquarium is the animals on display, and the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is no exception. You’ll find impressive creatures, especially in the Gulf of Mexico exhibit, which holds 400,000 gallons of water and a variety of fish and sharks, amongst others.
The various species include plenty of adorable creatures like penguins and sea otters. The penguins are especially popular with kids. You can also see stranger animals like jellyfish and seahorses. The Mississippi River exhibit is one you won’t want to miss either, thanks to the alligators.
When you visit the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, there are a few things to keep in mind. The aquarium is handicap accessible, so getting around is easy for all people. They even have wheelchairs for rent on-site. Additionally, photography is allowed, including flash photography, so feel free to document your trip as you like.
The aquarium is located city centre, so there’s plenty of parking nearby. Most of the parking comes with a fee, however, and there’s no parking at the aquarium itself. For those interested in public transport, the Riverfront Tram Line and Canal Street Tram line can easily get you here.
