The building and furniture needs to be updated. The room smelled like old and I was not sure the sheets had been washed, I slept over the top with my own sheets.

We stayed for 2 weeks in February 2024. The room is on par with a Motel 6 and set up the exact same way. The rooms are very small, but clean. Some very much older furnishings. Our lamp was screwed to the end table to not be stolen, which was weird. lol The beds were fine. The pool is not heated and is mostly in the shade so you cant swim in it, only look at it. The area is convenient to bars and restaurants. To use the beach, though, you have to rent a spot/chairs/table/umbrella for about $20 - $25/day plus tip and you have to go through a public access cuz The Playa Maz wont let you go through their building if not a guest. We were stopped by the security immediately and rerouted. We often would just stop at Joes Oyster bar for a beer before hitting the beach to avoid the walk, cuz we be old and lazy like that. lol I would rate this as an average, hotel with VERY small rooms and a pretty good location if you dont want to stay on the beach.

The hotel itself is very average, but it's a good budget choice in the area. It has the benefit of being a bit away from the most hectic areas of town, where sleeping might be difficult due to all the noise.

Not bad for a motel
The Azteca Inn is located in the Golden Zone (Zona Dorada) of Mazatlan and is close to all major restaurants and the beach. It has a neat bar that is very well-known among gringos of Mazatlan, and a pool, and a parking lot which is really convenient if you travel by car.
The room is small but has everything you need. The furniture is a bit old, and the bathroom requires some attention and remodeling. Other than that - not too bad for a motel.

It’s a simple hotel with a clean pool. The staff are very friendly and the bed is comfortable. Its location is perfect if you enjoy live bands and walking the malecón
