Great location
Great location for getting around, a bit on the noisy side but that’s not a discredit to the hotel itself

Steal of a price for solo traveller!
I knew it was going to be small, with no ensuite, possible loud street noise, and a vicious set of stairs, so I came mentally prepared. And while these things were true, it really wasn't bad. (Though if you havve *any* mobility issues, pick some where else.) The street noise wasn't that bad, I even kept my window open all night (which did let in some smoke, as I was above the doorway). The staff was just so sweet, at check-in, breakfast (even though I slept in terribly), and at checkout. Location is grand, and bed was pretty comfy. Would absolutely stay again on a short trip!

What a cool hotel! The decor was super fun. The staff is amazing. This is a walk up so be sure you can traverse stairs well (staff assisted with bags). Great breakfast every morning. A wonderful experience. I would definitely visit again!

Love this quirky little hotel! The staff made me feel welcome and were helpful. I felt very safe there which was important for me as I am a female traveling solo. There’s even a police station nearby, but I felt safe everywhere I went in the city. It’s easy walking distance to dozens of restaurants and cafes. My room was on the lower level and I had the window open because there didn’t seem to be any air conditioning, but they provided a large fan that worked great. There was a fair amount of street noise, that doesn’t usually bother me, but others might not like it. Very convenient to the Melkweg. It’s an old building so there’s no elevator and the stairs to the lower level are slightly treacherous, the staff will help you with your luggage. The water temperature in the shower was wildly erratic, that’s the only problem I had. I hope to return to Amsterdam again and would definitely consider returning to this hotel.

2/10 Poor

The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The room is extremely uncomfortable, bad lighting, no AC, no elevator,, we had to climb very steep stairs to the 4th floor and very bad cleaning. The area is super loud every day of the week its impossible to have a good rest. Stay away from this place! Amount of money they charge can get you a better room. Totally regrettable.

Nice hotel, clean, comfy beds. It was more like a hostel. We had 3 beds and was a tiny room with barely space for luggage. It was cute inside and appreciated the blackout curtains for sleep at night. The safe didn’t work unfortunately. Bathrooms and shower were outside the room like a hostel and had to wait nearly an hour for the shower with continuously checking each floor for availability. No shelf or space to set anything in the shower. Toilets space in the bathrooms was tiny and also occupied much of the time on every floor. It was loud at night from others staying in the hotel and could hear outside noise thru the thin windows. No elevator and very very tiny narrow stairs to each floor. Staff was friendly and free luggage storage. Happy it was clean but wouldn’t stay in the hostel again.

The location of the hotel was ideal & walkable. I had never stayed at a hotel where you had to share a bathroom and shower, so this was different. However the shared bathroom/shower was advertised when we booked.

Backstage Hotel provides a unique experience. Customer service was excellent. The musical themes throughout the hotel will bring you back to your past memories . The only down side I could see, would be the stairs being narrow and steep, although we had assistance with our bags. Wasn’t an issue with our stay.

Great property for a quick in-and-out to Amsterdam. The hotel lobby is awesome with a great rock&roll design and great for meeting fellow guests at the small bar. The reception is very welcoming and helpful. Great location, very walkable along the canals. I had the shared bathroom/shower room (1 night only stay), which were very very basic. The windows are paper thin and Amsterdam on the weekends is VERY lively, so I got no sleep. Oh well. The steep stairs are also a death trap, so be careful and pack light if staying for a long time. Overall though, for what it is and the price point, it has a very charming bed and breakfast vibe that I enjoyed. The breakfast is also delightful and great quality, I left satisfied and ready to travel. Thank you!

The hotel was as expected, as shown in the pictures, location convenient We had a bad experience with the transfer to the airport, as we were told the price was one, but in the taxi we were charged a different one. No explanation was given by the hotel when we called them, we were extra charged for no reason. Its a pity that this ruined our whole experience in the hotel, none tried to follow up with us about this
