We had originally booked a 4-night stay at the SCP Colorado Springs Hotel but had to leave after the 2nd night. The property looks like a refurbished motel and boasts an environmentally friendly vision. Air conditioning is set at 65 but feels like much higher! (air from outside is much cooler but it does not seem safe to sleep with the door open!) A sliding barn door was used as a bathroom door but, because the door was too long, it did not slide smoothly and would get stuck and drag on the floor. Much effort was needed to slide it open or shut. The sides of the door provided little privacy for the one inside. The room has a safe and a fridge but no water kettle or microwave so you can only get hot drinking water from the common hall. Although the vision of SCP is commendable, there are inconsistencies in the room design. The bulbs inside the room were neither energy-saving nor LED, and there were too many bulbs just to light up the bathroom mirror. If you’re more used to creature comforts like privacy in the bathroom, a comfortable room, and a proper breakfast, this will NOT be the place for you. It would probably suit backpackers and those on a road trip with their pets. And it’s not cheap! You could certainly get a better deal elsewhere for the price.
