Tim Ho Wan

Tim Ho Wan is a famous (and constantly packed) dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong, with branches in West Kowloon Station, Sham Shui Po, and Tseung Kwan O. It shot into international fame after becoming one of the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants. It’s foreigner friendly, though you may have to wait for up to 1 hour to secure a table.
Choose your dim sum by ticking what you like on an order sheet – there are around 30 options, from har gao (crystal shrimp dumplings) to braised chicken feet. Tim Ho Wan has several outlets throughout Hong Kong, though most head for the one in Central for convenience.

Mott 32 is an upmarket restaurant that specialises in Peking duck, barbecued pork, and roasted goose. The dining room is very stylish and modern, featuring a custom-designed duck oven in the centre, so you can be assured of the quality and succulence.
A convenient point about the menu at Mott 32 is that the dim sum menu is available in the evening, not just for breakfast or lunch (as is the norm in Hong Kong). If you're planning to have the Peking duck at Mott 32, you need book a table in advance as the process of preparing the dish takes 48 hours.

Yardbird is an award-winning restaurant run by a group of talented young chefs from North America. The menu consists of creative western/Japanese yakitori presented in stylish inventive portions.
A full range of chicken cuts are available and all heavily seasoned, but done with skill for fantastic results. Located in SoHo, Yardbird is about 350 metres west of the Sheung Wan MTR station. Thanks to its izakaya-style setting, it's popular among couples looking to enjoy a casual date in Hong Kong.

Tsui Wah is an example of a cha chaan teng, also known as Hong Kong-style tea house. There are several Tsui Wah branches dotted around the city, but the Wellington Road branch is ideal for all-day and all-night snacking as it is just steps from the Central MTR station and the party zone of Lan Kwai Fong.

Yung Kee Restaurant

Yung Kee Restaurant specialises in roasted goose, a classic Chinese dish that's practically a must-try if you're visiting Hong Kong for the first time. The goose here is very fresh, with crispy skin covering succulent meat. In typical Chinese style, the birds are hung in the window for all to see.
You can also enjoy roasted pork, bird’s nest soup, and Yung Kee’s signature century egg served with pickles (not for the faint of heart). While this is definitely an authentic Chinese restaurant, owing to its location in Central, Yung Kee Restaurant is a little more expensive compared to most places in Hong Kong.
