Very good
The house is very homely and has beautiful views and gardens. The room was very clean and cosy. Me and my boyfriend climbed scafel pike and it was only around a 30 minute drive to here which was perfect for us. Would stay again!

Black mould in the bedroom and bathroom and dusty cobwebs chest height in the bathroom and stained carpets. I left after seeing the room in day light, couldn’t stay a minute longer and had three days booked.

Good!
Place was clean and tidy, bed was very comfortable, shower was great! Very nice garden. Old house, not sure if the windows open and close properly, could do with cleaning the cobwebs off all the walls and ceiling and the bathrooms could use hooks/towel rails. Well stocked kitchen - everything you need is available! Would recommend if you're travelling with your dog and prefer self-catering. Overall happy with my stay, thank you!

Great accommodation at Stanley House
Absolutely perfect place to stay, with kitchen and dining area facilities available to guests. The room was okay, with plenty space.
Was great to have the freedom of Stanley House, like staying at your own house. No pressure from the owners.
Also lovely grounds to explore, with the steam railway passing across the road.
A special place to stay, in a special part of the World.

It was the only accommodation available to book at the last minute. We found it OK for the price. The whole place is a bit dated and shabby but that was reflected in the price.
I would stay there again.

Liked the location
Disliked - No breakfast available although included with the room booking
- no staff on premises, they spend their time working at the Woolpack Inn a mile away and only come when called.
- difficult to find, don't head for the postcode via Satnav, it will lead to a small waterlogged lane. The hotel is on the main road but there are no road names or numbers.
- my TV didn't work and they weren't able to repair it.
- room needed modernising but OK for the price

Disappointing no-frills
Very basic no-frills (not even shampoo provided). Tired interior decor and fittings though relatively clean (if not quite dusty). Nice location though.
Misleading listing too - there was no free breakfast (or breakfast of any kind) provided despite this being “included” in the price. If it’s too busy you’ll have to park elsewhere which can be tricky on a single track road. Probably better off in a YHA.
