2/10 Poor

Our room had no air conditioning (despite being advertised as having it), no airflow, and was in the basement next to the breakfast room. Maybe other rooms are better, but this one is unfit for guests. There was also black mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and in the air vents, which is not surprising given how hot and steamy the room was all the time. Yes, the decor is old and the room is small, but it was really the temperature that made it completely unsuitable. I’ve stayed in inexpensive hotels all around the world, but have never had a room as bad as this. It was also advertised as a bike hotel, but only allowed check in after 3 (not simple after a long morning of riding). It also only had bike parking available outside—if we had been on more expensive bikes, this would have been a big concern.

Charming hotel
I read some reviews that say that the hotel is dated. However, I actually like that it has character. It is pretty imo. So it is not exactly like the chain hotels, but has it's own charisma. The hotel is easy to get to, and it's next to police station and fire station (very safe :-)) The front curve stairway is beautiful, but it also means you have to lug the luggage up there. There is a lift, but to access my room, I needed to lug my luggage up the stairs. My room was not accessible by lift. So if you have a heavy luggage/ weak legs, you may not find this hotel appealing. Other then that, the room was clean and comfortable enough. Note though, the shower area is in a bathtub, which you have to climb into. I loved my stay there. I count myself lucky to stay in this charming hotel.

lovely looking hotel, but not good rooms
Staff not very friendly, room very small toilet didn’t work properly. Toilet so close to the bath, difficult to get in and out. Curtains did not fit so was woken by the sun. Would not recommend

Clean but oh so small. Twin room could have been the smallest I have ever stayed in, although everything was provided there was almost o room to move around. Bathroom although well equipped was so small with no room to manoeuvre.

If you want to rest, avoid
The room was underground and we could hear everything from outside to our neighbours talking normally in the corridor. The door to the outside corridor (not the main one) did not close properly. We had a few insects coming in. Heard a rat or a cat digging into the trash which were outside by our door. We flagged it to the receptionist in the morning and she said we should have asked someone to chase the rat or cat. Would not recommend for a relax stay.

Great location
Great hotel. Staff was efficient. The room was exactly what we expected. Very well located for the beach and restaurants, you can walk everywhere. The private parking was full for our entire stay, but on-street parking is free.

Arcachon trip.
We were on a cycling trip to Biarritz and we started and finished our trip at Le Dauphin. The hotel was great and the area was also great. The hotel is about 5-10 mins walk from beach/front and is in a lovely quiet area. Perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Poor
The room smelt as though a smoker had been staying in it previously, with the windows left open on our arrival, seemingly to try and remove the smell, but the smell remained throughout our stay. The windows opened over the busy car park, so we couldn't leave them open at night. Incidentally, the car park was too full and small for us to use, so we had to park on the street. The worst part of our stay was when the fire alarm went off at 3am. It became clear it was not a test, so everyone evacuated, following the signs. There were no staff present. All guests were just left standing in the poorly lit car park (I tripped over poor paving in the darkness) waiting for something to happen. Nothing did, and the alarm eventually stopped. Everyone made there way back in on their own accord after a while of standing clueless in the car park, but still, no staff present. When we checked out in the morning there was no apology or explanation from staff. Very poor treatment, will not be staying again.

Nice hotel in Arcachon close to the station and be
The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we were travelling by train; just a short walk from the station and the sea front. The hotel itself is a bit old-fashioned but nice, it is in a residential area so very quiet at night. Our room on the first floor was small but perfectly clean and comfortable with lots of natural light. No coffee/tea facilities in the room but this is common in France and you can get a hot drink at reception at any time. It is worth nothing that there is no secure luggage room, however it is possible to leave luggage at the reception desk. The outdoor, and non-heated, swimming pool also could benefit from a refurbishment as it looks a bit dated and the space could be better exploited.

Convenient for a short stay
The hotel was average, room was tiny and bathroom okay sized. The hotel looked pleasant from the outside but was a little outdated for decor inside. Parking was free and convenient and staff were helpful and friendly whilst speaking english well. The room wasn't particularly clean and the cleaners finished at 11am so if you weren't out of your room by this time your room didn't get cleaned. Overall the hotel was convenient as it was very close to the beach in the summer town and gave us easy access to restaurants and activities during the day.

Great location
Lovely hotel and great location to get everywhere and also having a car park is a bonus, only negative was our room we had which was two tiered so bed up some steep stairs so visiting bathroom in the night not ideal.

Cheap and cheerful
This was a perfectly nice hotel, very clean, nice condition, quiet, but it is a little old fashioned - the air conditioning didn't keep the room very cool at all, and the room itself was very small. It was a nice easy walk into the town centre which was very handy, and it worked fine for us as an overnight stop. I don't think i'd want to have a longer stay here though given room size and weak air con.
