This is definitely a very old and previously shabby property, but many improvements have been made--fresh paint, better quality bedding and towels than I have at home and everything clean. The lobby needs work; it doesn't make a good first impression. But we would stay here again.

Route 66 is not vibrant as it once was and is off the beaten path. These property owners and their staff are trying to maintain and improve this property and make it a nice clean place to stay.

We enjoy staying in vintage or retro motels and this was great! Manager was so friendly and addressed our requests. In addition, location was within a mile of a brewery that we drove a few hours to experience...which was also retro! We want to support small business and local motels whenever possible. The reviews on the website made this look to be one of the better hotels in town, yet the only thing good about it was the comfort of the bed. It felt very sketchy and unsafe to stay. The locks wouldn’t work. I wouldn’t step in the shower for its condition. Well, it might have been clean. It didn’t feel clean.

Mini Staycation

We took a mini staycation with our neighbor friends to enjoy a night in Grants. The motel was nice and we enjoyed the very friendly customer service by the night clerk. We like that the motel is pretty much in the middle of all the “to dos” in Grants. If we had known that pets were welcome we would have taken our little guy, Bassett Dachshund cross. Next time for sure.

An old motel advertised as a Route 66 throwback, the entire 66 Strip in Grants NM was a haunted ghost town, with this Hotel about the only thing left open. The businesses were decorated perhaps 30 years ago, but almost all were dilapidated and falling down. It was pretty clean, as advertised, but the manager had left her teen daughter in charge, a sweet girl but inexperienced. The room looked like it had not been updated since 1955. The TV and fridge worked, but was plugged in by an extension cord from down the wall. I was too tired to go find another hotel, as as all I wanted was a few hours sleep, I stayed there anyway. The big surprise was no hot water when I went to shower in the morning. So my question to Hotels.com is: How on earth did it get an 8.4 Very Good rating? Not sure I can trust the reviews anymore.

Basic road trip sleepover

The owners are about 4 months into a remodel. Some items not yet completed. Ie bathroom floor and missing closet rod. The staff was exceptionally helpful. We just needed a basic sleepover on a road trip that was pet friendly. This is a very basic and nostalgic Route 66 style motel. The bed was comfy. Room clean.

The front desk manager was nice. Upon checking in, she said they don’t usually rent out this room. The wall heater did not work so she brought an old ceramic heater to the room. Extension cords running throughout the room. It was a cold night and the portable heater didn’t do much to warm the room. The immediate area was old, not much nearby.
