For the price, it is what it is. The night clerk - there is only ever one - took forever to find my booking, several minutes to answer the door each time, and was busy caring for a couple complaining about the quality of the two rooms they'd been shown (and screaming warnings at us about it saying not to stay there). Only later in the night did we realize the room has only half a roll of toilet roll and only one set of towels, despite having two guests.
The room itself was clean enough, but hair in the bathroom, paint spots on the floor, only one sheet and a duvet (in winter!), an uncontrollable radiator guests can't reach to close the valve (it was boiling), and no sound insulation made for an uncomfortable stay with little rest. Additionally, the sink had no hot water. (The shower did and water pressure was good, for note.) The bed itself was comfortable, but a blanket or even a separate sheet would be nice.
I had thought of booking again, and the day clerk was very nice in putting in my request for the same room. Frankly, seeing people walked from one room to another and coming out telling how mattresses were in floors, there were bugs, and more did not add to my confidence.
We used to live a few blocks away and I know these are old buildings. That doesn't mean basic cleanliness, extra toilet roll, towels, and a blanket in the winter wouldn't be expected.
