We recently stayed at the Hilton in Irving, Texas, expecting the same high standard of service and hospitality we’ve enjoyed at other Hilton locations. Unfortunately, the experience at this location was far below acceptable, and I left feeling frustrated and disappointed.
We had requested a crib several days in advance when booking the room. Upon arrival, we were informed there was only one crib in the entire hotel, and it was unavailable. That’s completely unacceptable, especially for a brand like Hilton that markets itself as family friendly.
We then asked for extra pillows to build a makeshift safety barrier for our toddler, who would have to sleep on the sofa bed in the absence of a crib. We were told there were no extra pillows available. Additionally, when we asked for a basic kettle to warm water, something standard in most hotels, they didn’t have one either.
As a result, our toddler fell off the sofa bed at 3 a.m., because there was nothing to stop him from rolling off. This was a very distressing and completely preventable situation, had the proper accommodations been provided.
To make matters worse, after breakfast around 9:40 a.m., well before the official checkout time, I went back up to the room to collect a few items we had left, only to find housekeeping already inside cleaning. They were about to throw away my toddler’s bottle, his milk, and other personal items I intended to take home. I had not checked out yet, and it was extremely frustrating.
