6/10
The staff was great but this is definitely not a full service hotel...it has a ton of character as it's in an old manor house with very pretty grounds and close proximity to the water. Great breakfast and comfortable enough but it would be nice if there were a bar/restaurant in the hotel - while the closest restaurant is probably a 20 minute walk away, it's not really walkable. I walk everywhere but got halfway to town and turned around as I didn't feel safe walking at night due to the narrow, windy, dark roads that have no sidewalks.
The pool was unusable which is understandable given I was there in March, but the gym was unusable as well which should be accessible year-round. Also there is no wi-fi in the rooms, only the common areas, and the service isn't great.
I paid the same rate for a hotel on Sao Miguel that was full service so I would have to say that this hotel is overpriced relative to what you get for your money.
