Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa
"What a wonderful birthday getaway. We went early on the day of our stay and had access to all the amenities including the private beach club. We stopped at the beach club first had a delightful charcuterie plate handmade cocktails while relaxing upstairs with an ocean view. Check-in was a breeze and the service exceptional. I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and they surprised us with a complementary plate of chocolate strawberries delivered to our room. The cottage was private with a balcony fireplace soaking tub and complementary champagne. It felt like a 5 star private oasis. A special thank you to the staff and concierge for their attention to detail and making us feel like a cherished guest."

Hotel June Malibu
"Had a great 2 night stay! Cute property, nice staff, good check in experience. However were a few hidden fees at the end that came as a surprise, such as expensive self parking on a dirt road that could have been better communicated."

"I was greeted in the office and it was a quick check-in to get my room key. Staff was friendly. My room was clean. There was a small refrigerator for me to use. I setup my computer on the desk space and was able to work from my room. Plenty of daylight and you could open the windows for a breeze of fresh air. The shades were blackout so you could get a good nights rest. Great shower, spacious bathroom. The ocean view was amazing, as were the adorable hummingbirds that played in the palm trees right outside my balcony. Loved the balcony. I didn’t use the pool but it was very clean and there were plenty of lounge chairs surrounding it to use. Parking was available. Location was walkable to grocer, etc. and to public beach access— so you can see and do plenty without a car."

"Beautiful finishes. Very modern and clean. Felt like we were part of the Nobu property. Bathroom was a spa. Nobu 3 buildings over."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Malibu
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Malibu is during January, November, and December, when hotel prices are lower. For those on a budget, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully appreciate the region's significant landmarks, cultural sites, and natural beauty. During your visit, you can enjoy the stunning beaches and scenic hikes, explore the local university, catch breathtaking sunsets, and relax at charming cafes. Additionally, you might want to experience the local winery scene or indulge in some surfing and sports activities, all of which provide great value for money.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals for a holiday in Malibu, consider visiting the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates on nearby accommodations as your travel date approaches. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you could stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don't miss out on savings. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make informed decisions. This way, if prices drop or rooms become available, you'll be promptly notified to secure your getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay at a hotel in Malibu. If you're seeking something special, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we’ll recommend more affordable dates, making it more likely you'll save on your booking.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but with Malibu's superb public transport options, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that’s still well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value for money. Choosing these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
