A good location, but a poor hotel.
When checking in, no staff member could be found. I called out and looked around for 5 minutes before someone arrived. No record of my reservation seemed to exist and I signed a pad to check in.
The room was freezing and the man on the desk loaned me a portable heater. This made it tolerable. The shower was freezing and took 10 minutes to warm up. The bathroom was even colder than the bedroom!
The Wi-Fi was atrocious and hardly ever worked. The reception man insisted that I used the room phone, when I wanted to confirm my tour. Every other hotel in Ecuador I stayed in called for me.
On Christmas day, my room wasn't cleaned, as there is no spare key when the owner is away.
I was given another room, which was slightly better, as the shower warmed up in 5-6 minutes.
On the plus side, the breakfast was good.
When I checked out, again no staff member could be found, after 5 minutes of looking and calling out, I looked over the desk and saw a pair of feet, this was someone fixing the wires on the computer.
He looked around and he finally found the reception staff member, who was working in the laundry next door, that is part of the hotel.
The hotel does have a good location and is only a short walk to nightlife and all of the attractions of Cuenca.
However, there are many hotels with a similar location, they would be a better option, hopefully.
