Staff were excellent. The fact it had everything self contained was great. Met many new friends there. Was impressed from the moment I arrived and got better as the stay extended. Price per night was great. Internet needed some work but that seemed to be the case for most of Koh Phangnon.

I booked Coral Bungalows for 4 nights. We were to stay January 6th through January 10th 2020. David, who works the front desk, wasd the shape best. Friendly, kind and considerate. Upon checking in were there first red flags. I had to leave my passport and put down a deposit for the key to the room. After that we were taken to the room for an initial inspection. The same type of inspection if you're renting an apartment. We had to check condition and functionality of everything. Since i had not been to Thailand before i went along with it. The room was tidy. There were no amenities in the room that you typically find when staying somewhere. No TV, soap, shampoo, no way to heat water, etc. The room smelled of mildew and stagnate water. When entering the bathroom there wad definite watery damage from the above room leaking. Black mold on the walls and ceiling.
There was no optionfor a breakfast buffet as found in nearly every hotel. They do have quite a nice bar/restaurant.
After our first night there were went to visit friends at another resort on the island. As soon as I walked into their place I knew that Coral Bungalows was sub par. I immediately changed over to my friends resort. At check out of we're were subject to the same inspection as when we checked in. I forfeited the money paid to Coral Bungalows only staying one night of the intended four nights.
I imagine their policies stem from tourists trashing rooms, breaking stuff, stealing stuff and losing stuff.

Don’t pay for ac
The room is just like the picture. We payed for the ac room. The ac was terrible so I’m guessing that’s why they installed 2 full blast fans above the beds. The fans were annoying and squeaky, and full blast all night on us. They only gave us a sheet and said we won’t need a comforter. My friend and I were both uncomfortable every night as we like sleeping with comforters and we’re cold. The pillows were terrible. It was like a couch cushion with a pillow case. We couldn’t keep the ac on all day because they would only give us 1 key and the key was needed for electric. The sink was an automatic sink spout so it was impossible to do anything with a 3 second water interval. The area was nice and the atmosphere was fine. Nothing was over priced which was nice and convenient. Staff was friendly, restaurant service was super slow. 1 waiter on in the busy season is not a good idea. I work in service industry so it was hard to watch. Overall it was fine for a party bungalow but I wouldn’t stay there again. Too hot outside for not good ac and not a comfortable sleep.

Great view. Mostly great staff.
Stayed here alone. Great view of the sea. Beach just steps from
The restaurant. Great Mexican restaurant nearby- just walk up from hotel a bit, it’s on the left. One receptionist was angry that I suggested the Mexican pls e to a couple who were asking for recommendations be Ayse she wanted them to Tage a taxi and get the commission for it. She’s the only one who’s rude and unprofessional- she doesn’t understand that if you make a guest’s stay more enjoyable, they are likely to come back and / or review the hotel. She was angry at me for the remainder of my stay. The other staff is wonderful!!the rooms are large and 2 bottles of water are left daily from housekeeping.

Cheap but not cheerful
Good location (on the beach) poor WiFi, room cleanliness could be improved. Several ants nests in the bathroom, 1 power socket next to the door, food and drink reasonably priced. some guests returning on a night made noise. But expected for the price of £6.50 a night.

Value for money
On arrival a staff member from the hotel takes you to your room & hands you a checklist where you have to go around the room & check everything is okay i.e.: bed, shower, sink, doors, fan.. this makes you feel like there is no trust from the minute you check in, on top of this there was mould on the ceiling, scratches & paint on the wall with ants running around the room. Apart from this the hotel was in a great location right on top of the beach & you can hire a very good scooter out from there which is good. Food is great & probably the cheapest restaurant food you will find.

Worst stay in koh phangan
Rooms are a mess and disaster. Stayed in an upgraded ac room which reception said was the nicest room they had. They charge fines to fix things then dont fix anything. Our bed was broken, toilet broken, shower leaked, ceiling was rotten, and there was literally paint everywhere. I cant imagine how the cheaper rooms were.
No wifi in rooms and got disconnected constantly outside. Had to retrieve a user id and password every single time you wanted to go on since it signed you out every time you used it. Bed and pillows are hard as rocks.
Unprofessional staff- staff laughed and spoke in thai pointing and laughing. Kitchen staff were rude and unprofessional.
Front reception- acted from the beginning like we are criminals demanding either a passport or 3000 baht and told us it was normal (its not). No where in south east asia have I put a deposit on a room more than 500 baht. 6000 baht for 2 people is ridiculous.

Reception demands you go through a checklist and if so much as a pillow is in the wrong place you get fined.
Fines posted for everything! And I mean everything. If you so much as cough in the wrong direction is a 1000 baht fine.
Took a "cooking class" at the hotel and the kitchen staff were so rude. They kept laughing at us and talking in Thai to eachother. Probably the most mismanaged place I've stayed in Thailand!
If you dare stay here- take pictures of everything from your room to the bathroom for proof. This was the most unprofessional, unwelcoming, and rudest place

Party hotel
Its a party hotel, good if you want to have fun and drink a lot (The pool party its in this hotel).
The hotel provide all the services for the guests in a cheap price. If you book a room here it's Berger to pay extra for a AC room ( its too hot in koh paghan), so you can sleep a liltlle bet more.

beach hotel
Yes the hotel rate is cheap but do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. Rooms are quite dark and gloomy, and need a really good cleaning. Zipped rubber cover on the pillows?? Air conditioning worked well though.
Not happy with staff doing a check in and check out of your room to make sure nothing was broken and in working order. Never ever have had this done at any hotel or resort. Kept your passport until check out and you must leave a 300 bht deposit for your hotel key, returned upon check out.

Robbed
Stayed 5 nights, dark colored walls and not enough lighting makes for gloomy rooms.
House keeping does not exist here. You want clean sheets or towels you bring them to the reception.
No toiletries of any kind, one toilet roll for the entire stay, I asked for more was told to purchase it.
Short walk from street to hotel and short walk on beach into town
Clean pool area but chairs need replacing.
Large restaurant and extensive menu.
Went for a day excursion and had locked some cash in our bags at hotel. Cash gone when we returned.

On the beach
Pros:
This hotel is a 1-2 minute walk from the main road, so no road noise. It is situated right on the beach.
Large restaurant and a small pool area. Room we had was a decent size with 2 rotating over head fans and air conditioning worked fine. One double bed and one twin bed.
Cons:
Upon check in you are required to leave your passport until check out OR leave a 5, 000 bht deposit and a 300 bht deposit for the key. If you want clean towels or bed sheets YOU take the dirty ones to the reception area and they give you clean ones...you make your own bed and you take out your trash. There are no toiletries including soap, one roll of bathroom tissue per stay and if you require more you buy it.

Full Moon ready
We went for the NYE Fullmoon experience, so not expecting luxury, but the room we were first given was so bad. 3 girls, one tiny room with no space and a bathroom with a shabby curtain separating the sink from the shower & toilet. We moved the next day with some improvement but the rooms aren't cleaned, rubbish wasn't collected from outside the rooms the entire 5 nights we stayed & no clean towels. The complex itself has everything you may need and is a good location to get to the town, right on a beach and a 5-10min walk to haad rin beach where the bars are. Food was OK, hygiene was questionable and service wasn't great.

Tired and in need of TLC.
The first room we were shown had a leak in the bathroom, and the woman that showed us to the room described it as "okay". It was only after we complained that we were given another room. The new room looked very, very tired. There was dried glow paint throughout, the bed was hard and stained and the multiple fans made us feel like we were sleeping on a helipad. The key socket to power the room with the key sparked whenever it was used - VERY dangerous. We only stayed one night and could not wait to leave.

Nice,not too expensive hotel
Nice hotel with a lot of ameneties (swimming pool, affordable restaurant, bar, beach side,...). Of course it's not the Ritz but you get a really nice bungalow (with 2 beds) for what you pay. Pool parties were pretty fun, unfortunately, they weren't that many since Koh Phangan is pretty quiet out of FMP. My biggest complaint though is that internet is not available in the rooms (something they should upgrade imo) and overall, was really slow.

Not a bad hotel, you get what you pay for. Would recommend only for backpackers and people wanting to love cheap. Restaurant is great and nearby some great beaches as well. Would stay here again if I'm going on a budget.
