Terrible! Save your money and stay elsewhere!
We booked 4 nights from July 11 to July 15, 2024. Only good attribute of facility is the pool area and surrounding grounds. The staff is nice but they do NOT provide the service expected of a 5 star luxury hotel. We were extremely disappointed in spending a lot of money to stay at a 5 star and we received at best, a 3 star experience. We cannot provide a good review of your hotel for the following reasons: 1. Terrible service where it would take 30-45 min for a drink and yet for an all inclusive stay, they charged us for a couple of smoothies we ordered while waiting for our taxi to the airport because we ordered them 1hr after "official checkout". It's embarrassing and classless to behave this way in my opinion. Room had half used toiletries when we first checked in, missing furniture. Didn't respond to our concerns immediately. Food is the same every single meal - has limited taste and appeal. I place the blame 100% on management for the above noted issues as the staff has not been trained on what 5 star service means.

The hotel is clearly worn out and in need of renovation. The access to the sea from the suites has been closed for quite a while, which is one of the advertised benefits for staying in private villas. The jacuzzi was set at 42 degrees Celsius which made it impossible to use. Because the program was locked I wasn’t able to change it and I never got a staff member to change it. I do not recommend the manicure and pedicure as the quality of product is poorly and staff do not have the knowledge nor the adequate training to do it. Not worth the price. However the resort staff and butler are absolutely fantastic! They are always eager to help and satisfy everyone’s needs! The food is excellent too! Thanks to the staff members I had an excellent stay! Special thanks to Ramso my butler and Yunis the assistant manager of the resort for giving a VIP treat at all times!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay for our honeymoon at the Fruit & Spice in Zanzibar. The staff was friendly and helpful. We learned and practiced some basics of the Swahili language thanks to them. We also learned a lot about the culture of the island through our interaction with the staff. The location is great with a nice view of the ocean especially during sunset. The room was specious, comfortable and well maintained, and we really liked the menu for breakfast and dinner, with a good variety of options. We really liked the fact that there is a Maasai village nearby where guests have an opportunity to meet Maasai warriors and ask them about their culture daily. That was very unique experience and we enjoyed every second of our interaction with the Maasai. Although the resort is remote with very few shops around, we felt like we had most of what we needed within the hotel. The access to the beach to swim or for peaceful walks by the water is very convenient and we really enjoyed those. The hotel is beautifully decorated with stylish local themes, with well maintained landscaping and abundant and vibrant nature around. If you like photography, this is paradise. We also felt very safe. I highly recommend the resort. We had a great stay and will definitely stay there again.

The staff was excellent and the food was delicious. The teception staff needs to improve. We were always asked to sit down and the would come tomus instead of taking care right away. Also interestingly we had to pay bottles of wine, where the samr by glass is included in thr all inclusive.

The property is at the southern end of the island. A peaceful location with stunning scenery and sympathetic architecture. The hotel has fantastic amenities including several pools and private beaches, a pier, a turtle nursery and a well equipped gym. The food was great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of excursions were available from the hotel and good quality entertainment was provided most evenings. The only issue at the moment is the access road which is 5km of very bumpy dirt track, however the road is being rebuilt and should be completed in the next couple of months

Nice resort but the staff not useful enough
We booked the Honeymoon villa. The amount for 3 nights is considerable and we also advised the property we are making our wedding in the resort. The villa was comfortable and had all facilities we wanted, even more - a beach area, a jacuzzi, our own exit to the beach and 2 spacious rooms. However the staff was very difficult to communicate to. Before arriving to the property I had to make tons of phone calls to get a wedding package quote. Well, they couldn`t provide what we expected - we received no answer and had to organize the wedding by ways of a local wedding planner. Even though I found the communication between the wedding planner and the hotel difficult and they needed our assistance too. The only one who was always kind and caring was our butler Kefas. He was always there when we needed him and we received explicit service from him while the rest of the staff was just standing and watching. I assume that the property is experiencing staff decrease. Otherwise I cannot explain why they have so little people. Overall a very nice resort with beautiful surrounding but the staff can spoil your holiday especially if you decide to make your wedding there.

DO NOT STAY HERE. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
in such a short stay from the 27th-31st I never thought I could be so disappointed in a resort. I would give the “resort” zero stars. Coming from someone that travels the world pretty regularly and even stayed at multiple resorts while staying in Zanzibar, I can say that fruit and spice is a waste of money and probably one of the worst resorts in Zanzibar itself, it is nowhere near a 5 star resort. Aesthetically pleasing yes, but with staff were horrid, you have to chase down for service and never go the extra mile to ensure your stay is going well. Meal times aren’t consistent- you get told times as you arrive to later be changed by 30/45mins because they aren’t ready. If there is a way to get out of providing you service, the staff will find a way to not have to serve you. Forget about receiving what you ask for while at the reception desk as they will tell you they will bring it to you but never will. Not only do they have no phones in the rooms to be able to phone the reception desk for assistance, which if that isn’t already inconvenient enough and just shows how lazy the resort is, you have to walk a way to the desk and still not receive what it is you need. Food options were less than appetising- the Hilton hotel in nungwis food is 12x better and more options and their staff are amazing. Want to order an alcoholic beverage? Be ready to wait 30 min minimum if not longer for a margarita. the Hilton hotel by doubletree in nungwi puts this place to shame.
