I was a bit apprehensive when we first arrived because the street is undergoing building works and seemed a bit run down! But upon walking into the reception of the hotel I knew I'd made the right choice! Positives: - staff were always friendly and helpful - free water in reception which you could fill your bottle up - clean, spacious room with shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom - the bed and pillows were SO COMFY I can't even explain! - I asked for a room quite high up away from the lift as I'm a light sleeper, we were given a room on level 24 and away from the lift! There was building works going on out the front of the property but if the windows were shut you couldn't hear them at all! - gym was well equipped with both weights and cardio equipment - the hotel was literally a stone's throw away from 34 st penn station which made it so easy to get around New York! 10-15 min walk to Times Square Negatives: - upon arrival we were given a free drink voucher which, when we went to the bar, we found out only entitled us to one drink even though there were 2 of us in the room. I don't think it would cost all that much to provide a voucher for the number of people on the reservation? A small gesture that would go a long way! Or maybe tell people at check in that the voucher only entitles you to 1 drink? Positives massively outweigh the negatives; I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend or stay here again if I come back to NYC!

Not as good as I thought it would be
we recently stayed at this even hotel based on the amazing reviews. I booked 5 rooms for 2 nights and expect to have a great stay. However, they failed to perform the excellent service that others rave about. I called the hotel to authorize someone else to check in all rooms for me as I'm arriving late and they only made changes for one room. When I arrived, the front desk gave me the inactive room card. Later I found out that they didn't give us the rooms that I previously requested for and they told me i booked the standard room so they can't give me what we want as they have sold out that room type. Then I asked the girl to help us check it for the second day, she said she will let me know at 11am (check out time) but I never get any replies from her. Lastly, we asked if we can do a late check out since our flights are in the afternoon and we don't want to walk around with our luggages under the -6 degrees. They said they can only do late check out for 2 rooms and they will charge the rest of the 3 rooms $75 if we check out after 11am. Finally we all checked out at 11am. I like the hotel facilities and my room but not so much for the staffs. Their service didn't meet my needs , we have old people in our group and the hotel staff doesn't seem to care. i don't recommend large groups to stay in here.

This is a beautiful place. So nice and cozy, not an extremely large, loud hotel. It was quiet and peaceful. Its the perfect size. They list it as boutique style and it is just that. Room was beautiful. I like the lights behind the bed and under bed that you can change to different colors:) I thought that was cute and you can turn it on and off based on your preference. The shower heads in the bathroom were so nice, perfect pressure and temp. Just what I needed after a long day. Perfect location, close to everything. I was in town for something called K Con. Its a huge convention and concert at Madison Square Garden. It is 5 min away from Madison Square and just a 10 min walk to the convention center. All the staff was friendly. I planned to specifically shout out the young lady at the front desk when I checked in and out, but I cant remember her name. She was so friendly and helpful. Cute lil restaurant had good food for breakfast and dinner. Overall I loved this place and next time Im in NY, this will be where Im staying. Oh how could I forget the price, very reasonable for such a nice hotel.

Great Hotel near Madison Square Garden
We stayed 5 nights at the Even Hotel on 35th Street in NYC. (In the past I've stayed in about 15 different hotels in NYC.) Upon our arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a nice young man at the reception who was professional, kind and laid back. He made us feel immediately welcome (All the staff members were just as great). While waiting to check in we were offered a selection of 3 lightly flavored and refreshing types of water (which are always available to the hosts). The lobby reception area is small but very personal and the elevators to the rooms are located right past the lobby. Our room was bright and comfortable with a nice shower with glass sliding doors (not the usual shower curtain that all 4 star hotels use). During our stay the hotel and room were always impeccably clean, and also quiet. The beds in our room were fantastic! The mattress, pillows and sheets were the best we've ever experienced and I wish I could get the same quality for our home. The hotel is not big and we never had to wait more than 20-30 seconds for an elevator. The hotel looks further from the main avenues than it really is. Madison Square Garden/Penn station are right around the corner and Macy's is just a few blocks further away. Plus: the Wi-Fi works really well and is FREE, there's a small refrigerator in the room. If you like to work out there's a fitness room and they also supply the rooms with some fitness items. When I return to NYC I will definitely stay here again.

Good place to stay but be aware of the extra fee.
The hotel is in a great location if your activities are in the Times Square, Hells Kitchen area. The area is loaded with interesting people, including some who sleep on the street near the entrance to the hotel. All part of the experience in this particular area. Never felt unsafe - but we have spent lots of time in NY over the years. Great bagels and pizza nearby. Easy access to subway at Penn Station. Rooms are small but comfortable and very clean. One of the two elevators was out when we arrived and there was a bit of a wait to get up to the room. Staff was very apologetic. It was fixed by morning. Room rates were reasonable but the hotel's $25+ per night "facility fee" that you are not likely to notice when you book makes the rate seem lower than it really is. Since this is not a city or state tax/fee it should be built into the advertised price of the room. Still a decent rate so why not be up front?
