The property was a bit out of the way, but we were able to bring drinks back and enjoy them out front with our travel companions. There is a very nice court yard and tge restaurant and bar seemed nice. Accommodating staff

Sweltering room
I ended up not staying. The room was hotter than the fires of hell. When I got back to the room at 2245 it was so hot and nobody at reception to see what I could do. I appreciate there is limited things the hotel can do so not particularly their fault. I wouldn’t be able to sleep so made the decision to go back home to Aberdeen. It wouldn’t put me off staying there as great value for money but maybe not when the weather is warm! Bed also squint as lack of wheels on 1 side. Check in was fine, the chap that did it was very friendly and gave me a warm welcome - pardon the pun!

2/10 Poor

Avoid this Hotel Unless Desperate This hotel might be okay if you're on an extremely tight budget and absolutely crave Indian food (the restaurant next door is apparently good). However, for most travelers, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Here's a breakdown of the issues: Pros: Convenient location to a good Indian restaurant Cons: Unhygienic: Broken doors with dents, sink that wouldn't drain (took a day to fix after reporting), stained towels (not replaced until requested again) Unprofessional Staff: Manager (David) was rude when complaints were made Poor Service: Basic necessities like toilet paper and working plugs were not readily available Overall: This place seems poorly maintained and the staff is inattentive to guest needs. If you have any other options, I would advise booking elsewhere. However, if you're truly strapped for cash and just need a place to crash (and happen to love Indian food), it might be a begrudging last resort.

High Quality for a Good Price
Oxgang Kitchen Bar and Rooms is a very tidy establishment. The staff were helpful and the rooms were of high standard. Sadly didn't get to sample the kitchen side of the operation as I was mentally exhausted after my travelling and just wanted to rest in my room. The ensuite bathroom was clean and constructed to a high standard, and the bed was very comfortable.

Staff friendly but room servicing average. Had to ask for clean towels and one bed was not made up on our arrival and rubbish bin had something left from last occupant which was unpleasant. Very loud doors when shutting.

Stunning room, quiet area, amazing food
We had such a beautiful room, with everything you could need for a couple of nights. The bed was so comfy and there was no expense spared in linen or curtains. The staff were so friendly and even let us check in 45 minutes early. The food was delicious and I'll definitely be making a return trip!

Great stay - Good value & convenience.
Stayed at the Oxgang Kitchen Bar & Rooms for 1 night earlier in the week. Great location with easy access to Edinburgh airport, without the Edinburgh prices. The restaurant was superb! Great food and service. Just be sure to get there before 8:00 PM, as the kitchen closes then. We highly recommend and would stay again if we are in the area. Great value and convenience.

Lovely independent hotel. Central location. Renovated really well. Food was good and bar atmosphere was lovely Only down side was the severely low water pressure in the shower

Pub accomodation
The hotel and pub were clean and fine if it is in the area you want to visit, but there isn't much close by so driving out is necessary. The staff, and indeed the owners who were staying there while their home was being used by U.S. professional golfers during the open, were all very friendly and helpful. The pub was busy when we arrived as there was a wedding taking place and we were in the middle of the guests in the pub. We had two rooms, ours was on the front overlooking the road and was fine, but our son and daughter in law had a room so small there was not even a wardrobe or drawers to store clothes in. The food served was very good and there was a good choice.

Convenient location to Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel.
Room was large but very hot on the first night. A fan was obtained but staff didn’t offer to help open window. We finally managed to open the window and we were much more comfortable on the second night. Bathroom was lovely but the carpet was dirty and stained.

Disappointing Stay
Stayed at the Oxgang for 2 nights, booked 2 rooms for a colleague and I. Room had only two single sockets with no table or chair to charge my phone or to be able to boil the kettle or work on. Kettle had to be boiled on the floor. Bed had no headboard because light switches were in this position and the pillows were poor. There was an electrical extension plugged in to the socket behind the bed to allow the bedside lights to be plugged in, the frightening thing about this was the electrical PAT test was dated Oct 2012 (photos can be supplied). The shower was poor. The room décor was nice and the food and service in the restaurant was very good. I returned from work on the second evening to find towels on the floor outside my room door, on opening the door the room had not been made up and the consumables, coffee, milk, toilet rolls not replenished, I checked with my colleague and his room was the same. This is very disappointing as we paid £340 for the 2 nights. I will be emailing the hotel direct to air my concerns.
