An oasis!
The people at Hostal D Cordero are lovely. We arrived with a locked case, with the key inside, so could not open our case. No problem. The owner/manager sorted the problem for us whilst we were given a cold glass of juice to drink, whilst we relaxed. The Hostal is like a little oasis. It has a beautiful little garden and fountain at its centre. The rooms are airy and elegant. We had dinner there and it was lovely, and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent too. The Hostal is in a good, central location to. Finally, the lady in charge (who was lovely and very efficient) arranged a collectivo taxi back to Havan for us for the princely sum on 25 CUCS each - fantastic! What a great stay.

Gem of a Casa Particular Near Santa Clara's Centre
Very pleasant experience from the moment I made my booking. The staff emailed me to see if I wanted dinner and I am glad I accepted: the 4-course meal was outstanding - well presented and delicious, for the equivalent of USD 10 (March '18). Breakfast was similarly extraordinary, with juice, fruits, cold cuts, bread, eggs, and a memorable café au lait. The friendly inn-keeper Eliane had greeted me with an eye- and palate pleasing glass of real juice on my arrival. The room was very confortable and the bathroom and shower clean and functioning. Hostal d'Cordero is within easy walking distance of some of the main sights in Santa Clara. This is among the best accommodation I've had in my 25 nights in Cuba so far. The surroundings are safe (as anywhere in Cuba) but the Hostal has a security guard on duty all night.

Une belle adresse bien située. Un accueil parfait avec une hôtesse polyglotte et en prime un jus de fruit frais à notre arrivée. Le patio est très agréable, plein de verdure, seul bémol la literie qui est à remplacer et un criquet nocturne.
