Stayed in the room with a private bathroom, good value for money in Reykjavik. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, a special thanks for storing my suitcase a day before check-in. Haven't tried the breakfast option, but it looked nice. No kettle/microwave in the room, but we were provided with a card to the hostel floors(there's a kitchen there). The bed was nice and cozy, no complaints here.

You get what you pay for

This is a hostel where a part of it is turned into hotel (which we used). The room was very small, while the bathroom was OK. Clean and tidy. Those that work there are friendly and service minded. In other comments we read it could be loud parties to late in the night. We did not experience that. Breakfast OK - all you need. And that is exactly what the hotel is - OK and all you need!

Good for the price

The rooms were clean, there are many areas to sit outside your room, to read your book or watch a movie on your device. It had a kitchen area, with fridge, microwave in it. It had a bar downstairs. The prices of the food and drink were expensive, but as is everywhere in Iceland. £7 for a HALF pint during Happy Hour, then rises to £11 for the same HALF pint outside those times. A few times I entered the communal toilets / showers and there were no soap or paper. Overall, beds were comfy. Bring a padlock to secure your times in the lockers in the rooms.

The people at the desk were amazing very helpful. The room was a little noisy because of construction, but that is what it is. The building itself was a little old but nice. The beds were comfortable first stay ever in a hostel. The Kex was actually good!
