10/10 Exceptional

Excellent place to stay

Very comfortable beds. friendly staff made the stay perfect.

2/10 Poor

High speed trains past your window

This must be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! High speed trains go past your window every 10 minutes...ALL NIGHT. Wallpaper pealing hower water fluctuates temperature. NO AIR CON!!! Need to have windows open so noise is worse. Food not up to scratch...meringue in Eton Mess I had so hard it was like chewyy toffee..... When I mentioned this to reception she said it was a noisy hotel.....basically did not care. To cap it all before 9am giant grasscutter outside to wake you up yet again. Made Fawlty Towers look good!

2/10 Poor

Family Funeral Stay

Absolute disgrace....extremely dirty. The room we got had a hole in the ceiling where there had been a leak. Rotten skirting boards and we asked to be moved when we found toenail clippings on the floor. Complained at reception and emailed hotel direct but still no response!! This place is falling apart and no way worth the 53 per night we payed. We didnt even stay the second night!

Awful

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Awful room, no hot water in the morning. Would never stay here again.

4/10 Fair

Tired and in need of a lot of investment

The hotel is ideally situated and that's about as good as it gets really, its very tired, hardly anything worked in my room wallpaper coming off the walls, hairdryer had on tube on it! non of the furniture matched old ear buds on the floor! bed to be fair was comfy and linen was clean didn't eat there so can't comment, will I be staying again? ... No!

8/10 Very good

should you find yourself in Swindon.......

Should you, by some misfortune, find yourself in Swindon, this is a great option. For some reason a twin was cheaper than a double. But the room was good, clean and comfy (perhaps a little old fashioned). Basically this is a great place to stop if you are travelling, broken down or on business. Its not going to blow yiu away, but its perfect fir what it is; a stopover. It has a decent pub underneath, the rooms are nice, its peaceful.

4/10 Fair

Not that cheap and not that cheerful.

Basic bed and breakfast hotel with no frills. Saying that breakfast was above average, good bacon and soft eggs.

DISAPPOINTING

VERY DISAPPOINTING AND WELL OVER PRICED AT £49, THE 3RD ROOM OFFERED US WAS JUST OK STAFF WAS OK, FOOD WAS JUST WARM WHEN PLACED ON TABLE AND REMINDS ME OF MOTORWAY FOOD, HOW CAN YOU SPOIL FULL ENGLISH

8/10 Very good

Pleasant stay

Our stay was very pleasant, the hotel does need refurbishing but as we understand from the reviews we read before going there is new management in position so we would expect some work to be done soon. The staff were polite and very helpful, the food was excellent, the room a good size and despite being next to a main road, there was no noise. For a three star hotel, it was excellent value for money when compared with other hotels in the area. We recommend it for anyone. However there is no lift.

Tired

This hotel is conveniently situated just off A419. This suited us because we were travelling to Wiltshire the following day.Our room was a little bit small but adequate and clean. In the evening we went for a meal, but were disappointed by the food and there were only one other group of 3 dining. We returned to our room for the night, but found it too warm even with radiator turned off as the feed pipe was still red hot. Next morning breakfast would have been ok if not having been kept warm for ages and dried up, and we were the only people eating. I dont think they had many guests staying which is perhaps an indication of the hotels reputation. This hotel could be amazing if a little money and time was spent on it. As it stands, I dont think it will survive for much longer, which is a shame. Staff were good, but this did not compensate for all the other shortfalls.

Room as big as a shoe box!

Only had a night here, room so small and too hot as couldn't open the windows very far. Glad it was just one night

10/10 Exceptional

Casual and welcoming

Had a really nice stay here the other night. Checked in by a friendly member of staff and she helped with some directions around town. Our room was nice and warm with a comfy bed. Nice laid back atmosphere and good facilities.

8/10 Very good

Short stay

Check in was ok and and reasonably quick. But don't turn up too early or you will have to wait. Little aged and tired but the overall cleanliness of public rooms seemed to be ok. Room facilities were ok. Bed was firm, and the cleanliness of the bathroom was a little poor, especially in the bath/shower area. Bar had run out of bitter and Guinness on the first night, pleasant sitting area though. Dining room was fairly comfortable and staff were pleasant. Evening dinner was good, maybe a little limited on choice if you are staying more than 3 nights. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. (Self service). Check out was fine, although I was going to be charged twice until a senior receptionist stood in and sorted it out. Overall OK.

Easy access from M4

Large car park just off main road to M4 J15 so very good location. Room was good size with free internet and the breakfast was good. The evening meal food selection was limited but OK for a 3 star hotel.

8/10 Very good

Quiet hotel with large car park

reception staff very helpful as we were on motorcycles and they asked us to park close to the hotel for better security. Super value rooms, but food a bit pricey.

6/10 Good

Location ok but close vacinity to police station

Average hotel, ground floor room this time which was better for me as am a smoker. Fire alarm sounded just as I was about to step into bath. No warning of test scheduled so wasnt sure if it was test or real.

Get what you pay for

Staff were helpful. Bathroom needed a good clean. House keeping knocking on door at 8.30am seemed a tad bit early

10/10 Exceptional

Ideal for overnight stop en route

helpful staff nice simple room but clean and efficient hotel

2/10 Poor

Terrible

I would nopt recommend this hotel to anyone. The outside is in need of complete clean up and inside was worse. Rooms were not cleaned ,dirty bathroom floors, net curtains were literally black, heavily stained carpets in rooms and thorough out whole hotel, beds were completely worn out and like sleeping on a board. Breakfast was outraguosly priced, food area was not clean, run out of eggs and bacon had to keep asking staff for normal breakfast supplies and then charges £12.95 per head for this when questioned that it was outgragoues over priced they said if you book at check in it is idscounted to £6.50 per head and pointed out that perhaps they should train their staff to tell you that at check in. Don't stay here!

10/10 Exceptional

Great Value Business Stay

Room very comfortable and newly furnished. Charming, helpful staff. Out of town location with nowhere to walk to except Sainsbury's across busy dual carriage way. Free Nuffield Health membership was a bonus. Good value for money. I will staty agian.

4/10 Fair

not if you can help it

This hotel has changed names several times, clearly because its in decline, no wonder! it hs a run down air about it, and most of the staff appeared unmotivated and frankly idle. Breakfast was awfull and the dinning room was full of uncleared tables and staff chatting!. Our room had dirty walls and the toiletries were half full, nothing a refill and a wipe of the walls would not have made a 100% better, but as i said the staff seemed unmotivated. shame really as all thy are doing is sealing their doom....

2/10 Poor

Do not eat in the resaurant

Terrible service and bad food. After ordering a chicken sandwich and fagots and mash from the lunch menu, were told they had no chicken or fagots. On choosing a jacket potato instead found it was stone cold, returned it to be brought another cold one. What has happened to basic food practice of using a food thermometer to make sure not only that food is cooked but safe to eat? Not happy at all I asked this of the guy at the bar, only to be told that they don't even have a microwave in the kitchen!! This hotel needs a trouble shooter, it has the potential to be good but fails on so many aspects. I even had things on the bill from a dinner charge that i hadnt had they were removed quickly and any charges for the terrible lunch were also taken off, which was decent of them, but I won't be comming back.
