We loved our stay! My children had the best time playing around along with the dogs from the retreat! The room is spacious, very clean and looks brand new. We loved the decoration and the community kitchen! We will be back!

Good stay, hidden gem,

It was a family trip, loved this hidden gem, the property is very well maintained and clean, especially the rooms and the main kitchen area is awesome! Overall the owners took effort to give it an artistic touch! Overall we are enjoyed the stay, looks like hurricane and the wildfires damaged and the town is recovering well! One small recommendation to the owners is to watch the dog on property, it did scare my wife when it ran towards us, it became friendly eventually! Overall stay and service was good, would love to return again! Thanks

Beautiful place to get away for a weekend . The town is about 30 minutes away so it’s good to make a stop and get food and supplies as there aren’t many restaurants near by . They have a full kitchen for u to cook in main lobby and a fridge in the room . The Mountain View was breathtaking. Also the fur friends on the grounds made the trip extra special !!

I can’t say enough about how this lodging is a slice of heaven on so many fronts-gorgeous nature, sparkling clean, comfortable and hospitable rooms, attention to sustainability which is so important, very accommodating. Loved the ability to share the main lodge and eat on real plates utensils and the fireplace and fire pits onsite. It was a truly memorable weekend and thank you. We will return!

So peaceful and quiet. If you’re traveling by motorcycle,the road up to the retreat is gravel. It’s manageable but can be tricky.

The property is well kept and very clean. No restaurants near by, so be prepared with provisions. A bit strange that everything is done via email/text. But it works. Great kitchen if you plan to cook (30 minute span). I would definitely stay again if in the area.

What an amazing property and experience. We stayed at the Winter Star which is located near the main building- quite convenient. The rooms are super spacious, clean and very well laid out. Love the fact their are no TV’s which only would distract from the experience. Great WiFi service to allow for internet calling since their is no cell signal. I’d recommend this to anyone who is interested in disconnecting from the world and just getting away from it all.

Just as advertised, beautiful.

Our family stayed in the two bedroom cottage just off the main lodge. Everything was nicely updated, necessities provided, and comfortable temperature. We could see the beautiful mountain view from the porch of the Main Lodge, relaxing in the rocking chairs. I love the contactless check-in/out. Requesting us to take our trash to the dumpster would not have been bad if it wasn’t pouring rain. About 1hr drive to Asheville thru the winding roads or highway. Plan ahead for your meals. Bring food with you to cook/eat in the group kitchen. We stayed on a holiday weekend so we had some trouble eating locally.

A great Place to Stay

The Eco Retreat's location is amazing. The retreat provides an awesome communal cooking arrangement steps away from the beautiful view of the Black Mountains. The location was fantastic and a great option to the standard hotel view. While there are other locations with a mountain view in the area, Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat surpasses them in the acreage of privacy and uninterrupted views of the mountains.

Great place to stay

I can’t say enough great things about this place. The attention to detail is noticed. I don’t normally write reviews but I feel like this place deserves that. Check in super easy, my room was ready early, everything seems new and clean and it’s a beautiful property.
