The entrance is deceiving. The riad is huge once inside and truly does look like a palace. The decor is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. The breakfast was lovely and it is somewhere I would consider staying again. However I’m not sure if the riad was just opening up for the season or if there is some other reason but it seemed we were the only ones at the riad. A lot of the areas (spas, terraces etc) looked like they haven’t been functioning for a very long time. The indoor swimming pool was freezing although that didn’t stop my daughter having a dip. The rooms were overall clean but I think the taps, showers, bath etc need some tlc. Again, they look like they haven’t been touched in months. This riad has so much potential to be great. Just needs a little bit of maintenance.

Guide from a desert tour called all the riads and this one was the only one who refused to send someone to meet the van. From what I understand it was the owner. Considering how confusing the ages medina is this was a shock. Check in was good, facilities are beautiful at first sight. There was a lot of dust and some dead flies in the room. The shower head was broken, it would spray in all directions. Water was lukewarm, unfortunate with the huge tub in the bathroom. I went out for dinner and drinks the first night and when I returned I couldn’t get back in. I used the buzzer 4 times. Thankfully I was with a friend and his family had an extra room. Otherwise I would have been stranded as a solo female traveller. When I returned the next day I couldn’t find any staff to speak with about this. When I returned from a tour of Fez at 6pm my room hadn’t been cleaned. I had a full garbage and no more toilet paper. On my last day I tried to bathe, the shower head broke completely. When I went to check out I couldn’t find someone at first. The best staff member was this gentleman. I mentioned I needed to get a taxi to the train station and he actually took me there. Honestly, it’s kind of odd here, it’s empty most of the time, including empty of staff. I find it frustrating that I paid for two nights and couldn’t even enter my first night. Overall…beautiful spot but needs updating and more cleaning. Service is lacking.

I would go back in a heartbeat! Great place!
The stay here was an amazing experience. The staff are kind and helpful. The food was sooo good and their house wine was perfect with the meals! The pools felt great after long hot days, the patio with the desert breeze was wonderful at night. The internet worked in public areas but we didn’t mind because it was so pleasant to just sit and enjoy the ambience. Rooms are clean and air conditioned. Just be aware the portions of food are so large you’ll be stuffed!

It’s just ok
The hotel is unique in the sense that it’s an old palace. But because it was original, things were a bit dated. The restaurant area was nice but the food was overpriced and was just ok. The service was also just ok because they forgot certain things when we asked them to set something up. We ended up paying more for dinner because the waiter kept pushing us to get more things and misunderstood us and brought us stuff extra. Reception area was not easy to find. The best part is that this place is pretty close to the blue gate and entry to the Medina. Other than that, it’s definitely overpriced for what you get.

Extremely run down, slight odor, no hot water Seemed almost abandoned! Rooftop full of weeds and was only opened up for us, think we we’re the only guests.

Sheherazade scam
Pretty Riad in the medina. Over all not worth the price. Owner does not seem trust worthy. Offers free guide to take you to his friends shops with over priced merchandise. I booked a suite and they tried to say a regular room was the same as the suite I booked. Classic bait and switch. Left a pair of sun glasses on table and staff said they didn't find them despite there only be about 10 guests staying there. Service extremely slow. Spa ok but very expensive

50th Birthday Nightmare !
From the moment we set foot in the hotel we knew we had made a mistake ! We were never checked in properly or welcomed or explained to where anything was . Rooms were not what we had booked . Service appalling. Swimming pools so dirty and cold we could not use . Spa and treatments a total rip off and not proper procedures carried out . Restaurant very expensive and one meal was inedible . Drinks were extortionate and warm . The roof terrace was filthy and not pleasant to use . This is the 6th time I have been to Morrocco and 2nd time in Fes and have never experienced anything like this before . This was also the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in while in Morrocco. When trying to sort this out with the owner , he was arrogant and down right rude . To totally finish our trip off , two of my friends who were with me had their phone chargers stolen and replaced with old tatty ones . They also did nothing to rectify the situation . We booked for 7 nights to celebrate my 50th Birthday . There were 9 of us in 4 rooms . What a total let down , totally disappointed with the hotel and service . Certainly won’t forget it . But unfortunately it will be memorable for all the wrong reasons . The Manager gave us a 30% discount on our bill , but it was nowhere near the discount that we should have received for our absolutely diabolical experience . Really don’t want anybody else to have to go through what we did at this so called luxury Palace . Avoid as it is disgraceful .

We reserved two junior suites and they were vastly different. One was a very standard room, the other what I’d call a suite. It rained when we were there and there were few common spaces to go to that were warm. The roof deck was less appealing than I’ve seen in most other high end riads. The restaurant seemed set up to host events, not have a lovely local dinner (again, like other riads). There is so much potential in this property.

Extraordinary beauty and exceptional luxury
This is the most famous luxury hotel in the region. This gem is an extraordinary palace with spectacular architecture ! We were welcomed by a very courteous and attentive service: they made us feel home. The suite was gorgeous, very luxurious, clean and exceptionally designed in accordance with traditions. Every detail is designed to perfection. Very comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. We had an exquisite dinner in the famous Moroccan restaurant. The palace is very romantic and we almost did not leave this gracious environment for the whole stay. The spa is spectacular with the finest technologies perfectly mixed with the stylish traditional design. The view on the Medina from the panoramic terrace is amazing. The location of the palace is also perfect to visit Fez and very practical since it has direct access by car. The reception service and management did an excellent job helping us to arrange the rest of our trip : this is what I call exceptional 5 star service !
