I stayed at the tree house unit. Very secluded and totally surrounded by nature with no neighbors. A few bugs but that is to be expected with an open kitchen area and sleeping in a tree house. Would highly recommend for the more adventurous. They also have private enclosed cabine to rent with all the facilities required. Pool are was very nice and all of the landscaping was excellent. Will definitely stay again in the future.

Nice property, but minimal provisions for 2 bedroom cabin, (ie no salt and pepper). A bit out of the way, but reasonable for the price.

4/10 Fair

I would love to say it was an amazing experience, since the grounds and architecture is beautiful and well kept, although communication and treatment was poor at best. I have traveled all over the world and have never been told you that can only reach the workers within the hours of 8am-6pm. Therefore, if one has flight or transportation delays you will not get in, even though you paid. In my case, the owner responded very rudely and annoyed since I arrive at 6:30pm. I needed help leaving the property for dinner since the key they gave me had difficulties opening the gate, he was clearly choleric. You definitely need a car to go to this location. One of the reasons why I decided to go to rio encantado was because in other reviews people mentioned that for a price, the bartender would make drinks or cook near the pool. That was not the case, wren I went. I was there two nights and every time they saw my family and I they walked away. The menu was on the counter of the bar, just no person was there to help us. I have to say, the grounds are very well kept, clean and tidy. The sofa beds and pillows need some updating, since it was pretty uncomfortable. When I went to the city, locals mentioned that there was a guy that used to work there and he was the life of the place, cooked here and there, and also prepared drinks, but he is no longer there. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place.

This nature preserve was the most beautiful, we were able to sleep with the windows open every night and we we're able to hear the river from our cottage, the air was so clean and fresh, the cottages were cozy and clean and inviting, the pool, the views, the service, everything was amazing, we would definitely stay there again and again.

Relax and recharge
Cabin 2 was comfy, clean and private with good kitchen and living room. Nice pool but relaxing in the river is better. Several nice swimming spots. Suspension bridges and nature trail, lush tropical landscape. Don't just use it as a base for exploring, spend time enjoying Rio encantado. Used the AC at night but things cool down before morning and the breakfast on the patio in your PJs, birds chirping and the sound of the river is lovely! Pick up some groceries in David.

Great place, it was very clean, comfortable, nice kitchen, by the river, you are able to close up the windows and keep nature out if you want to. Security is probably not necessary although they a gate to the property and provide a remote to come and go as you please. In Caldera you can have a meal for two, and I mean a filling meal, with two beers and a coke for $8.50 at Melissas. Easy to get to Bouqete in 18 minutes or to David in 35 minutes.

Beautiful green oasis
The grounds are beautiful. This little ravine with a river, where you can swim and with a warm waterfall. Flowers, palm trees, and so many other plants. The hosts are super friendly. Especially Adrian is a nice and attentive host/ bartender. The owner, Frank, takes very good care of his grounds and has lots of fun stories. The cabin is very spacious and has a great view. Was sad to leave!

Frank's Nature Preserve
Two thumbs way up for my Cabana at the Rio Encantado. It's my kind of place: off the beaten path and next to a flowing river. There's also a nice pool area with poolside bar. Frank, the owner, has turned it into a nature preserve. I stayed for 5 days in the middle of November which is still the rainy season. And, man, did it ever rain. The rain started around 1:30pm every day I was there. You'll need a rental car because you're 9km from the main David-Boquete highway and about 15-20 minutes from downtown Boquete. Cowboy Dave has car rentals just up the road. My Cabana (#2?) had a kitchen area with small fridge, propane stove, sink, and small household appliances. It also has ceiling fans and A/C in the bedroom. The bedroom had a queen bed and large closet with a safe. The bathroom has a shower. Next to the kitchen area is a futon, chair, flat screen TV, and a twin bed. the porch had a BBQ, round table and 4 chairs. You can see and hear the river from this Cabana. There are two ceiling fans over the porch, but one was not working. Frank's staff did a very good job of customer service. Make sure you ask about the different cabanas as they are not exactly the same or the same price. There's also a treehouse right next to the river. The day I left, Frank was re-introducing (Capuchin?) monkeys onto his property. They are also building a cable/foot-bridge over the river. I really liked Rio Encantado. When I'm back in the area (hopefully the dry season), I'll stay there again.

Beautiful garden setting - wonderful owners
Went with my wife and two teenage boys and would definitely go back. The grounds are incredible - much better than the pictures represent. It's a beautiful garden setting in immaculate condition. Lots of attention to detail throughout the grounds. The cabins are spread apart so there is plenty of privacy. The owners are very attentive and fun to talk to. Our hot water system was broken when we arrived late at night and they went and bought a new system the next morning. The cabins themselves are average - nothing fancy but very clean and served our needs perfectly. The WiFi was off and on, but that did not bother us. It's about 20 minutes down the valley from Boquete, which is a bit inconvenient but meant there was less rain than in town.

What a beautiful place
This place is unique in every way! If you love nature....this is the place to be! I wish I could live here....so peaceful...lots of colorful trees and exotic flowers. The river and the pool on the side are unique! The Cabanas are so clean...modern. ..ands spacious. We stay four nights on our last visit to Panama....and after staying in 8 different places beginning from five star hotels to hostels and cabanas.....this is my number one place! Soooooo beautiful! Thanks for keeping it so clean and so well taken care of! 😀😀😀😘😘😘😘 We took a taxi from boquete to get there...very inexpensive...or you can take a bus...it passes in front of it! On our way back home...we took the bus back to David....about 20 minutes! Very easy to get there! Love the barbecue and kitchen amenities to cook!

Comfortable cabins in beautiful location
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Cabanas Rio Encantado. The cabins are set in beautiful grounds with friendly staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Frank, Jose and Adrian were very welcoming and are very proud of the haven they have created. The cabins are well equipped and private. We did not have a car and would rent one next time as the location is 15-20 mins outside Boquete on the road to Caldera (horse back riding/minicanyons) This makes for a more agreeable climate (lower elevation than breezy Boquete) and private setting. We were able to call cabs to go into Boquete, $12 each way but having your own car would give more flexibility. The pool is warm and inviting and they serve great drinks at the bar. No food though so bring your own supplies, although the rooms have snacks and drinks at very reasonable prices. All in all we would recommend highly and hope to be back for a longer stay.
