We enjoyed our stay
Nice people nice place close to transport you could catch a bus to the nearest train station right at your front door, or a bus to kyoto a couple of blocks away making it easy to get to all the famous temples and shrines. Handy to convenience stores and supermarket.

The room was smaller than we expected, it was hassle free and everything was provided. There was no elevator but staff took our bags up to the third floor for us. Also, we could hear our neighbors at night but other than that we had a good experience.

clean isolated studio apartment style accomodation
place is not central as others said, but i drove so that didnt matter for me. Parking was right opposite and was a 50m walk to the hotel. A Lawson minmart right beside for you to buy any snacks or stuff at night. Room was clean. There was even a washing machine which I used to do a bit of laundry, though it may be worthy to note there is limited space to hang it out in the very very small bar at the aircon ledge area.
in general:
pros: clean, washing machine, quiet location, minimart beside, simple checkout process
cons: no lift so need to climb stairs, not central location so may be a problem for non-driving travellers
otherwise, I had a good stay from my point of view.

Property was suited for backpackers perhaps. Not in any central location. Amenities almost non-existent. Very, very basic conditions. Not at all how it was described in the advertisement. Staff was very nice.

NO Lift!! Be ware if carrying luggages
The building is 4 storey high, there is no lift, it is hard to take luggages up the stairs. The neighborhood is very quite and the building is difficult to find. The room is smaller than expected. 3 of us staying in 4 person room is really crowded. The reception only upto 9pm instead of 10pm as stated. We arrived around 7pm n there was nobody there. All rooms use code for entry without key.
The code for entering our room was just left on the counter that anyone can see!

Japaning Hotel Shichihonmatsu great facility
Very nice and comfortable hotel. The facility is very nice, new and clean. The room comes with have kitchenette equipped with plates ,silverware and cleaning supplies. The washing machine is also inside (with a dryer located just down the hall ). The staff is very helpful and has also helped us in explaining the transport options, sightseeing recommendations etc. The location is easily accessible by bus. We will definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again next time we come to Kyoto.

Great stay and would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful stay in Kyoto at Japaning Hotel. It was great that there was shuttle service to the Nijo train station, make sure you make a reservation for the shuttle service. The room was clean and comfortable. One of the bed was uncomfortable and once we told front desk, he immediately went and purchased a replacement mattress for us that night. It was nice to have a washer in the room that was free of charge. There was a dryer available and it was very reasonably priced at 100 yen per 30 minutes. Although there were no elevator, we were on the second floor so had no issues with it. I would definitely book here again. I would even book to stay in Kyoto and take the train to Osaka and Kobe instead of changing hotel since it is only about an hour away via train. The hotel is about a 5-7 minute walk to a bus station, bus is the easiest way to get around in Kyoto and the hotel offers a day bus pass you can purchase at the front desk. Hotel is right next door to a Lawson which is very convenient for snacks but there are restaurants around that are open for dinner. Overall, great stay and for Japan standard it was roomy. Take note that the "sofa bed" is really a sofa with a mattress top, but worked fine for us.

Nice choice
Hotel is great. Staff is nice. The only thing is that the hotel is quite some distance from the train station and it is a little confusing to figure out buses immediately. If you have that figured out, the hotel itself is great.

Clean and comfortable - lacking the "human touch"
The apartment and the lobby was clean.
Everything was in good working order.
The limited hours on reception meant that I didn't actually see any hotel staff for duration of our stay. They are just a telephone call away, but it's always nice to have human contact.
The hotel is a bit of a a walk from the imperial palace, but there is a bus stop, near the McDonald's where you can catch the bus into the city centre.
If you decide to take a taxi, be clear about exactly which Japaning hotel you are staying in as there are a few!
All in all a satisfactory stay.

Modern hotel in authentic neighbourhood
We had some difficulty finding the hotel as it was late and we came from Kyoto station. Once located, we found a modern facility with helpful staff in an interesting neighbourhood. We were able to come and go as we pleased including late at night and found the room and hotel private and welcoming. It was a little short on room for five sleepers but all other aspects were excellent including the slippers for wearing around the apartment. It was a reasonable location to explore Kyoto from provided we coordinated with the bus timetable, booked the shuttle service or were prepared to walk (approximately 20 minutes) to Nijo station. We mostly walked to the station as it was not taxing and provided another perspective on life in Kyoto. Overall I would recommend it for others staying in Kyoto.

Friendly Staff and Nice Location
Staff was friendly with this hotel. I got a pleasant stay. The location is good to bus stops and there is a convenience store beside plus eateries are walking distance. Good hotel free transportation from Nijo Station. By adding an elevator the hotel will be so good. We stayed as family on the 4th floor and hotel staff helped us to carry by stairs. Very nice of him thanks W! I would love to stay again in the future.

Comfort Stay!
Amazing hotel, love the room, like a small aprtment and they do provide washing machine, dryer, microwave and all the kitchen tools. And Lawson is just next door!
Excellent customer service!
Location is a bit far from station however they do provide drop off and pick up service with a cheaper price than cab.

Room for Small People, Off Beaten Track, Quiet
Must take bus to get to location. US $30 from Kyoto Station via taxi otherwise. Rooms are small and furniture such as couch fit for children. Really no where to sit properly. Sleeping on box springs not very comfortable. Washing machine was a plus. Very quiet neighborhood. NO Elevator. No service which was OK. Did get a shuttle ride to closest Metro stop ( Nijo). We were on 2nd floor of 4 floors. Hate to be on 4th with luggage!!

Nice affordable Kyoto apartment hotel
I booked this hotel at the last minute because my first choice was fully booked. Even though this location is a good 20-minute walk to the nearest JR station Emmachi, it's less than a 5- minute walk to bus stops, grocery stores and restaurants.
The apartment building is relatively new and in great condition. Each room has keyless entry, a washing machine in the bathroom, a sliding door separating the bedroom from the living room/kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware and cleaning supplies. There is also a small electrical hot water boiler, a microwave and a small refrigerator.
Beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning works great in hot and humid days.
The hotel staff is not always onsite but he responds to email promptly. The hotel provides a free shuttle service at 9 am to the JR Nijo station daily. Or for a fee, they can drive you at a different time.
Overall it was a great experience staying at this apartment style hotel!
