2/10 Poor

I just had the worst vacation experience imaginable at a resort in the Dominican Republic from August 21st to 25th, and I urge everyone to avoid this place at all costs. From the moment I arrived, the staff was shockingly rude and unhelpful. My $100 was stolen right out of my purse, and when I reported it, the staff didn’t care one bit. They were completely dismissive and uninterested in addressing the theft. To make matters worse, I came back to my room one evening to find housekeeping still inside after 10 PM. The housekeeper looked terrified and sneaky, and fled as soon as she saw me, without saying a word. The food at this resort was nothing short of atrocious. It was tasteless, watered down, and made me feel like I was starving the entire time. The Sakura restaurant was a joke—cheap food, and the chef was both annoying and unengaging. The only redeeming feature was the pool bar, where bartender Gerardo was fantastic. He was genuinely pleasant and attentive, but unfortunately, he was the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal experience. The beach was a disaster—rocky and filled with stinky reefs. I tried to enjoy the sun and sea, but instead, I was constantly harassed by vendors trying to sell me things. The resort even allowed a pop-up shop to set up right on the walkway, making it impossible to escape the aggressive sales pitches. Overall, this resort was a nightmare. The staff was unprofessional, the food was inedible, and the beach was unappealing. Save yourself

4/10 Fair

We stayed for 4 nights. We were only able to make a reservation for 1 night only. The other nights we tried to go to the restaurants that didn’t need reservations (Route 66 and Margaritas), we get there and both restaurants are empty and the staff told us that they can’t take anymore tables. The one night we ate at a restaurant with our reservation (steak house) we were rushed out. Waiter was upset at the hostess for sitting us in his section. We had to wait a day for a towel card because they ran out and told us to comeback the next day. When we went back we had to wait even more because they didn’t have any cards. Good luck trying to find a spot at the pool. No matter how early you get there, it’s impossible to find spots because people will head there and leave their towels way before going, which I understand because I’ve been to other all-inclusive resorts but this one had the least amount of the seats for customers. Overall I would recommend looking else where unless you pay more for their “exclusive” treatment, where you seem to be treated as a king/queen.

The staff was very friendly and they would go out of their way to help us. The hotel itself was very nice. I only wish they have dryers for the wet bathing suits, other than that everything was great.

Someone stole my gold earrings from my room. The room had a musty, mildewy smell. The food was awful, and there was no coffee or condiments in the room. It wasn't a great experience for me and my family.

Although the resort is appealing to the eye, everything other aspect makes it not worth the money. We actually cut our trip down from one week to just 3 days. My daughter got sick (not their fault she had an ear infection) but the doctor charged us $200 just to look at her and then sent us to the hospital in the city where they proceeded to charge us another $1000 to see and treat our daughter. The doctor also had told us the hotel was responsible for the transportation to and from the hospital to which we were told by the driver that it was actually $160. On top of this, on the third day I got violently sick. I honestly wasn’t shocked. Most of the resort food was left out in the hot weather or just out in the open in the “Mercado” and the privilege restaurant. We could tell the food wasn’t good from when we got there so I knew one of us was bound to get sick. My husband got violently sick right after but neither of us wanted to pay another $200 to be seen so we decided to go. I’ll add that we did want to upgrade our room once we arrived so we spoke to the front desk who sold us a dream that was not at all what she said it would be. If you pay extra for privilege you’re really just paying to be annoyed by someone during your whole stay. They first offer you a “breakfast at the lighthouse” and by that they mean someone from the “lighthouse” comes to sit with you during your breakfast to sell you their version of a timeshare. After that awkward hour, he then took us back to

The room we received was dirty. Noticed mold all around the sink and water on the bathroom floors. Pain chips all over the room including bed. Feels like they treat you differently if you don’t take the privilege service. Most annoying part their representatives are stopping you everywhere to sign up for the premium service. At the end it felt like they were harassing us. The buffet place is full of flies you can’t eat without the flies getting on your food.

Definitely not a 5 star experience. Food was tasteless, pizzas and pancakes ridiculously undercooked. Rarely had someone come serve us water or had to ask and they would come back much later. The main buffet restaurant always had an unpleasant smell which was not helpful when the food is tasteless. Even service at La Carte restaurant was bare minimum, staff (especially servers) once again showed no interest in making your time enjoyable. They just did their job and did not look happy which made us feel unwelcome. Not sure what’s going on but this seemed to be the attitude of most, not very pleasant. I’ve gone to many all inclusives in DR and this has not been the norm. The only thing that made our stay bearable was the entertainment and activities for kids and adults. Management really needs to work on service etiquette with staff and actually getting things for guests when requested as well as learning to interact nicely with guests.

My lock pad stopped working. I had to walk back and forth to the lobby which was a long walk. Then I was told to wait outside my room to wait for someone that was on their way. I waited for 30 minutes, I had to call my daughter that was staying at the same resort and she had to go to the lobby. The person who my daughter spoke to insinuated she was lying of my wait time outside my room. Finally someone else came and he gave me a key card simple as that.

The hotel is beautiful, the lobby area and the bar have a great atmosphere during the day but also at night. The live music some evenings in that area are a wonderful idea to make the experience special. The quiality and variety of food is also very good. The ¨a la carte¨ restaurants rating according to my experience are Bluemoon the very best, The Steakhouse and Margarita very good, Dolce Vita is good but not great. El mercado buffet was very good. The cleaning ladies in the rooms and the front desk and guest service people were great, helpful, and nice. The staff in general is amazing. The shows in the theater were good, the highlight is the magic show by a cuban magician. A wonderful thing is Mike coffee shop, great expressos and capuccinos. The pool, lazy river and kids water park. everything was part a very nice vacation. We loved the silence disco one night after the show.

8/10 Very good

Overall good resort for families with children, however, the food did not meet expectations. The food at the buffet was mediocre, and out of the restaurants we ate at, only the SteakHouse was good. Would not stay at the resort for more than a week, as the days become repetitive. Excursion helped with adding variation to the stay.
