Candidasa is a small coastal village in the lesser-explored East Bali region. The coastline ranges from stretches of black sand beaches to gravelly shores that all face the Lombok Strait – and all with a scenic backdrop of the island's mountainous highland. At one point in history, Candidasa used to be the only popular destination for day-tripping to East Bali – more of the region has been revealed over time.

Northwest from Candidasa is Amed, which is a top choice for tropical coastal escapes, together with Tulamben, one of Bali’s famous dive sites. Generally, most of the eastern coast is an underwater playground, but overland, you may also discover a multitude of colourful traditions alongside significant landmarks and century-old temples.
