Lucerne is about as typically Swiss a city as you can get. Situated on the banks of the Alpine lake it takes its name from, the city has tons of charming medieval architecture, castles, famous clocks, chocolate factories and outdoor activities. There’s even an annual cheese festival, just in case all of that wasn’t Swiss enough for you.

A genuinely beautiful city, with bundles of character among the narrow, cobbled streets of the Old Town, Lucerne is a delight to visit at any time of the year. It’s historical buildings and monuments are the star attractions, including the Chapel Bridge, Musegg Wall and the Lion Monument. However, the Alpine peaks ringing Lake Lucerne also make the scenery worth the journey.
