I requested a non-smoking room, but the room smelled of cigarette smoke. Bedding was decent looked clean. Bathroom definitely needs better up-keep. When I used the sink a bunch of hair came up from drain, was pretty disgusting.

Not a bad hotel. It was the closest we could get to Blacksburg for the football game. Checked in Friday, and out Sunday. Staff was nice, rooms were fine, breakfast was not fancy but suitable. The only problem was with the bedsheets - On Saturday evening I noticed a very nasty smell from the sheet or bedspread, close to my face. I had to turn it down to keep from gagging. I was too tired and it was too late to call housekeeping. I should have reported it, but I forgot. Other than that, it is a nice hotel.

We were in the area for the Green Hill Highland Games. Salem is a very nice town. The people were very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room had been recently renovated and it was beautiful. We have stayed in some questionable places before but this definitely was not one of them!

The breakfast choice was limited for those on a special diet (i.e. vegan or gluten-free), but they did have cereal selections and waffles. The freezer portion of the mini fridge in my room has so much ice in it that the door was forced open and I could not use it. I notified the desk attendant immediately after my check in with no resolution.
