Great location in the heart of Beijing
Great large room in the deluxe family room. Just like pictures. View of the Main Street was nice. Bathtub big for two. Bathroom the size of the room. Bed a bit hard for us. Problem I see is the tv channels.. only 1 English station.Hotel is 15min from forbidden city entrance. 5 min walk from Wangfujing shopping street. 15 min walk from metro station. Good location near restaurants and shopping.

Wonderful First Solo Trip Experience
I booked the fashion room and it was very comfortable and clean. Water, beer and sodas in the room were included so that was a pleasant surprise I did not know when I booked. Black out curtains were also great for sleep. Room was on the 3rd floor right on the road frontage so it could be a bit noisy at times. Very close to Forbidden City but wish it was a little closer to the subway becuase the subway is really cheap (3 Yuan one way most places) and easy to use. It is a 15-ish min walk to the nearest station. The breakfast at the hotel is great and the front desk staff is also very nice and helpful and speak english. room was well stocked with free toiletries as well. This was a solo trip and I'm not a hostel person so this hotel was the perfect balance of price and comfort for me.

Great hotel - no such a good reception attention.
The hotel is amazing, the room huge. About the service, we hired a tour to the Great Wll which was great but the last day I asked if we could get a taxi at the door to go the the Airport Express metro station and they said they would call one for us. The taxi they called was a very rude man who first said he would charge us RMB49 to go to Donzhimen, when he arrived he said price would be RMB 60,- and while we were traveling to the metro station tried to convince us to take us to the airport for RMB 260,- We denied so instead of taking us to Dongzhimen Airport Express station E, he left us at the normal metro staion D and we had to walk for 800 meters to get to the correct entrance. The worst!

Not the best in the area, but okay
The hotel is brilliantly located for Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City (and all other tourist sights around there). There is a great selection of restaurants nearby and it is only a 5-10 minute walk to Wangfujing Street (for shopping). The rooms were spacious and relatively clean, some mystery marks left on the mirror from previous guests however. The bathroom was well appointed, although be aware that there is no door to the bathroom, just a curtain. The window in the bedroom didn't close properly either without someone holding it shut, which made the room quite noisy as it looked out on to the main road. We've stayed in this area before and certainly had better value for our money although I wouldn't write off staying here again if necessary.

Poor 2.0
Absolutely appalling stay!
It was an awful experience- when we checked in we were told there was a Government curfew on the 14th and 15th September and had to be back in the hotel by 4pm. The reception staff said they had been told this two days before, yet we hadn’t been informed. If we had we would have made other arrangements. On the 14th we had a meeting but couldn’t get a taxi back to the hotel because of the curfew, so had to stay in another hotel that night. We managed to get back to the Kapok Hotel the next day and checked out a day early and had to stay in a different hotel on the 15th as we had a meeting to attend. We were told that we had to contact Hotels.com for a refund for the two nights. And so hope you will do this ASAP as we are out of pocket. Also the Hotel Kapok has still not refunded the £95 deposit they took when we check in - t is now 2 days since we checked out.

Average hotel & rude cleaning lady
I booked this hotel based on reviews. The reviews were over-rated. The location is great, only 10 minutes walk from the Forbidden City. The service is average or below par. The cleaning lady was very rude, she was screaming at my wife for using more than one toilet sheet. The breakfast is supposed to run from 6:30 to 10am but they stop refilling after 9am. Very disappointing for their nickel and dime service. We may not return again.
