Hotel didn't stand out in any particular way. Location is decent. Room was very small. Stayed in a non-smoking room but the room still smelled of cigarettes. As a non-smoker this wasn't very pleasent.

This was a centrally located hotel close to the action but in a more quiet area. The room was smaller and older but functioned well for us. They offered a delicious but inexpensive breakfast that we took advantage of. It also in walking distance to other restaurants.

1st Tokyo trip in 5 years and the hotel's great!
For my first trip back to Japan in nearly 5 years this hotel was amazing. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly with both Japanese and foreign staff to facilitate a smooth check-in and check-out experience. As an example, I requested an extra pillow on my second night and by the time I got back to my room it was already there. The complimentary breakfast buffet was a great way to start a day of travel around the Shinjuku area and beyond and also a lovely example of a Japanese style breakfast. The cleaning staff were extremely attentive as well, I saw them interacting with guests from Korea and Europe and they were as kind to any of them as they were to me (an American). Without a doubt a 10/10 and I will surely consider the Listel Hotel Shinjuku branch for a future stay in the future should my travels bring me back to the Shinjuku area!

A fairly old hotel with old furnishings that has seen better days. However, if you are not picky about the interior, it is a reasonably comfortable stay here. Shower room is adequate, hairdryer and kettles are provided. We got the free breakfast which was simple but filling. The reception staff are friendly, and are able to communicate in English. Word of advice - try and get the non-smoking rooms - the tobacco odour of the smoking rooms may be rather unbearable for some. We stayed in the main building, and it was an overall pleasant stay for my elderly parents and I. Transportation-wise, you may need to walk about 10 minutes to reach the nearest metro stations. There are some eateries nearby, though probably not as robust as downtown Shinjuku itself, which is about 15 minute's walk. There are plenty of convenient stores around the hotel - all within 5 minute's walk at most from the lobby.
