Helpful staff and very clean
Staff was amazingly helpful and it was fun to stay in a traditional Japanese accommodation. Of course, these are not beds, so comfort level isn't quite the same as regular lodging, but it was a unique experience! The room was also spotless and spacious.

nice stay in traditional Japanese home
It was a lovely experience. Most of the staff were friendly (there was one guy who wasn’t friendly at all) and the traditional bath was a nice edition

Love it so much. The staff was really nice and helpful, they provided us local information such as where we could wander after dinner. The food and service were also excellent at a reasonable price. The Gion area is fabulous I would definitely live in this area again for my future trip to Kyoto. There is a crab shabushabu restaurant which is also worth trying. BTW bonus credits: I had left my contact lens in the room, but surprisingly they kept it for me at the reception.

Can’t wait to stay here again!
This was the best experience! I felt like we were staying with a most hospitable family. We loved everything from the public bath—which I didn’t think I would use, but was my favorite—to the traditional Japanese breakfast. The rooms were very clean and relatively spacious for a family of 4. Sleeping on the floor in the traditional Japanese fashion wasn’t the most comfortable, but the mats, pillows and comforters the Kinoe used made it as pleasant as possible. The location of this ryokan was perfect as we were able to walk to dinners, the Yasaka Shrine and stroll through Gion.

Great Experience
The service was excellent and the room was clean and spacious. The surrounding area provided a number of places to see and visit. The food was all incredible and well worth the trip on it’s own.

Decent but over priced
Had a little hiccup at check in, but overall a pleasant stay. Food was better on the first morning than the second. The sort of private onsen opens all night which is a nice touch. A little far from Kyoto city center.
