As many other reviews say, check-in is a little bit of a challenge. You get to the front desk of the building, but this is an apartment building, not really a hotel. So then you wait for a hotel staff member to come down, you go up to their office, then have to go to your room. Not a big deal, but just slow. Don't expect much information or service from the building's front desk.
The room I had needed a lot of work and a major cleaning. The rug on the floor was nasty. Big shag rug that is designed to catch lots of dirt and it was doing a good job. No telling how long it had been since it was last cleaned. There was a small, single extra bed under the staircase leading up to the upper floor with the main bedroom. The white cover on the bed showcased all of the dirt falling off the open stairs - those needed to be cleaned, too. Lots of chipped and peeling paint in the ceiling of the bathroom. Only one bulb and it was rather dim in there. Also, don't stay in this "hotel" if you don't like the heat. There's no air conditioning. Having a kitchen was a nice idea, but it was minimally stocked so cooking was going to be rather difficult without investing money in certain necesities (pots, pans, etc). Just cheaper to eat out.
However, the location is great. Lots of really cool neighborhoods nearby and the best stuff Santiago has to offer is within walking distance.
