I spent four nights this October in this small, stylish hotel. The warm, friendly welcome from Oscar at reception set the tone for my stay. The hotel has a pleasant, old-fashioned feel about it, despite being bang up-to-date. My room (53 on the top floor) was large and airy, spotlessly clean and beautifully designed with a dark wooden floor and a huge metal-framed and amazingly comfortable bed. The Nespresso machine and Bose sound bar added to the comfortable "at home" feeling. The location (one of my major reasons - together with the reasonable cost - for choosing this hotel) is on a quiet street just behind the Markisches Museum. A two minute walk away is the U-Bahn station of the same name, just a couple of stops to Alexanderplatz to the east and a few stops in the other direction to the Gendarmenmarkt, Potsdamer Platz and then on to the former West Berlin. Museum Island and Unter den Linden are within comfortable walking distance. Breakfast in the adjoining cafe is perfectly adequate with all the usual German breakfast choices - fruit juices, cereals, ham, cheese, bread, eggs, sausages etc. I've been visiting Berlin on and off for over 25 years ,and this is undoubtedly one of my best hotel experiences in all that time. I'll definitely be back!
