So, I wanted to give the capsule spirit a go, but I did not even get to stay there, because, although it says on their profile they don't have a reception and it might take them some time to answer their emails, the one email that I have sent them a day or so ahead about, well, precisely, how to do my check-in is unanswered as of this day. And that is taking minimalism a little bit too far. I can't arrive at one of the busiest cities on the planet, late in the evening, and nobody of the general populace speaks much English, all sweaty (I think it was already rain season, although there was not much actual rain, but lots of sweltering heat), with two rucksacks, and have no idea of how to actually get into my hotel and how to keep my stuff safe and all the other, well, service-y stuff that hotels are supposed to do. Minimalism does not mean doing nothing! I held back on a "terrible" rating, I ended up booking another hotel right around the corner, so the other day I happened to walk by the Capsule Inn, and it looked nice enough on the outside and right outside the train station without being in a particularly noisy environment; but this kind of service is simply not acceptable and, in a country that prides itself rightfully on their excellence in service, this was too much of a contrast.

Good value capsule hotel
The only thing I would warn against for foreigners is that almost all the signs are in Japanese. The staff does have English speakers which is helpful, but if you don't know how to read Japanese then the only thing that might throw you off is the shower room. Otherwise most things are self-explanatory. Lockers were next to the capsules and are pretty big. I traveled heavy this trip and they were barely big enough, so light travelers have nothing to worry about. Capsules themselves are plenty roomy, just the only thing I'd say is to watch your head because there's a block sticking out from the wall for the fan. Also standard with most capsule hotels, the capsules themselves only have a privacy curtain; not a proper door. Women may want to consider a women-only hotel since this means there's a risk of busy hands. Also standard with any hotel with close proximity to others is the noise. Bring earplugs. Otherwise the place seems to offer all the basics (soap, shampoo, towels) and is pretty clean.

Spacious lounge was nice. But I couldn't bring food to the 2F lounge. That was the only unappraisal point.

Good but pictures don't match room
I would recommend this hotel but please be aware that that photos on the Expedia site don't match the capsule that you get. The. Pictures on the site are for a slightly more expensive "Cabin" type room. The Cabin type is a private room, the capsule you get when booking off Expedia is not private. You have your own private capsule to sleep in and a private locker but it is a large non private area. Staff were very nice when I explained this to them but as nothing has changed on the web site I'm pretty sure they are aware it's misleading. Wifi also allows you to read a newspaper online but not enough band width for streaming (YouTube etc). I would still recommend it after all that because it's clean, cheap, close to the station and the staff are very nice. I've stayed 3 times.

Intersesting
I had never stayed in such a Capsule. It was in itself an interesting experience and the price was very low. I found the air a bit stale, but otherwise it was ok and I could get to the airport for my early flight. The staff did not understand or speak english.
