D-Day and Mont St Michel tours are the best way to see those sites, and are well worth it. Also, the Bayeux Tapesty is a lesser-known, 1,000 year old amazing piece of history. Quick to see, good thing to do if you have an hour or two your first day

Le Reine Mathilde is noteworthy (as we returned twice). The Moulin is fantastic.Reservations are helpful at eateries. The Bayeux Tapestry is a must see, as is the Church and the Normandy Museum. Shopping is fun and the people very kind. :)

This town has significance to my family as my 19 year old father arrived on the Normandy beaches in June 1944. The town respects the sacrifices made by the allies and is well worth a visit by all nationalities.

We absolutely loved Bayeux, France! It has a small quaint Village feel. Beware, the restaurants close at two and don't open until seven for dinner. So if you like an early dinner like I do, you have very few choices.

A great place to stay in Normandy. There is a lot of history in Bayeux. Glad we stayed in this town.
"The staff were wonderful, very attentive and friendly.
We were in a stand alone house operated by the hotel. The only issue we believe exists, is the need for additional seating in the common area. Such as a large sofa.
The location is a few minute walk to shops, restaurants, and the tapestry. A great home base for Normandy battle sights.

"We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Le Lion d'Or. The location couldn't be better—an easy walk to shops, restaurants, bars, historical sites, and even a grocery store. The hotel itself was quiet, clean, and very comfortable, with a warm atmosphere clearly geared toward an American clientele.
The on-site restaurant was a highlight: elegant setting and truly excellent food. Although there’s no elevator, the staff kindly helped us get our luggage upstairs, which we appreciated. It’s something to keep in mind for those with mobility issues, but it didn’t detract from our experience.
Our only regret? That we didn’t stay longer. Highly recommend this lovely hotel in the heart of Bayeux."
