Excellent introduction to the City
Outstanding service provided by the staff. Good introduction to the City, good breakfast and comfortable bed. The washroom is not part of the room and need to be accessed from the stairways.

8/10 Very good

Dusty room but very convenient location
The location is amazing, in the middle of Cerro Allegro where you find all the street arts, and restaurants. The owner is very nice and helpful even though she can't speak English. She also let us check in earlier which is helpful. You need to walk up steep steps from the gate to the hotel but Valparaiso is very hilly to begin with. We stayed in the Jardin room and it is a bit dusty and old (but there aren't many fancy places in this neighbourhood either). The breakfast is fresh and filling. I would stay here again but maybe try to get different room like the Loft.

6/10 Good

Great Location, Average Service
The best part of Via Via was the location. Close to excellent restaurants, the Reina Victoria Acsensor, and one of the main plazas in Valparaiso. The room was large and clean, but the bathroom was small and did not come with any amenities (e.g. hair dryer, towel for floor after shower, soap)--only a small bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Because Via Via operates as a restaurant during the day and evening, it was a bit noisy when I was going to sleep, and it was hard to find a concierage person--only restaurant staff seemed to be aroubd. The receptionist who was there one morning was not able to give me directions to a major site, even when we were looking at the map together, which was frustrating.

10/10 Exceptional

Mucho friendly, thoughtful and very helpful staff and innkeeper. I've been to Valparaiso three times, and because of my bad back and knees, not an easy uphill walker, I'll certainly hire a taxi for a few $s to get to Via Via uphill, although I've stayed at more accessible (for me) places. Younger backpackers will think the walk is the proverbial 'piece of cake'---but I'm 71 years old.... Hey, it's hard, very hard, to find a better place in Val, and at this price and ambiance... My first "gush" recommend on hotels.com, so go!

Comfy, artsy and nice hotel. Nice staff.
Good hotel. It is very well situated and very artsy with nice art displayed on the external walls. Staff was attentive, room was comfy and clean. Only thing is that there is no parking inside the premises and you have to walk up 3 sets of stairs to carry the luggage. Breakfast was included and it was good
