You won't find better for the price
This hostel is amazing and excellent value for money. The breakfast was the best we had in Peru. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a superb budget choice in Puno.

It has a convenient location close to the square, which means you can easily walk everywhere. But it also means there can be some noise during the night. The room is cozy and warm, bathroom is tiny but clean. Friendly staff and good kitchen facilities. WiFi worked quite well. All in all very good value for money, ended up staying an extra night. Check out the awesome Japanese restaurant across the road for a delicious meal!

Everyone at the desk was very nice. It was a very quant little place. It could get noise due to the area but I am a heavy sleeper. Great place for the value.

For me, it was perfect !!
In addition of having an exceptional place near all the monuments, this hotel have a balcony so perfect !!! The persons are pretty nice and can propose you to manage your trip (calling taxi, agencies for the Misti or the Colca canyon) and they advise a lot on places and restaurants.
Have a great time there,
Nico

No hot water and triple room disappointing
Requested a double room for £10 a night, when we arrived, were given the triple room for £20 a night. Allowed to check in a 6am which was good but we noticed later that not all the rooms were booked so unsure why we didn't get the room we booked. Room itself was depressing. No hot water at all and we tried at different times of the day. In the end, we said we didn't intend to stay two nights as the room was more expensive than we thought. Staff were fine with that and offered us a deal to stay in the same ròom at a lower price but we declined. Breakfast was not included so cannot comment on that. Ended up going next door for £20 a night and that place.was amazing.

Great stay!
We stayed total 5 nigts before and after Colca Canyon and the value for money was the best we haved so far in Peru. We had both - private & shared bathroom and both were very clean. Clean, nice bedding, proper thick towels, amazing views from roof terrace - all 3 vulcanos and monastery. Short walk to Plaza de Armas. Decent kitchen. Very nice owner speaking 3 languages! Loved the paintings in the rooms! Good laundry service.

High service orientation and approachability
The owners of La Puerta del Sol were very friendly and approachable. The room was in a good condition. Further, I booked the 2-day Colca Canyon tour via the Hostel, which was awesome!
