One of the best hotels I know
One of the best hotels I know and I am constantly traveling in Asia, the USA and Europe. Alza is good value for money, its super elegant yet also amazingly cozy and of course (Japan...) clean and perfect in every sense. The location is also fantastic with Gion in walking distance. The staff very helpful and efficient. Highly recommendable.

A Delight in Gion
Hotel Alza was located in Gion, steps away from UNESCO temples, traditional restaurants and shopping, and a more modern district featuring departments stores and more. Compared to other rooms I've stayed in Japan at this price point, the room was huge. The hotel was new, the room spotless, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Honeymoon Heaven
My husband and I had a fantastic honeymoon stay at Hotel Alza. The staff was very friendly and helped us with sightseeing by organizing a free tour with local college student guides. They even helped us secure a same-day reservation at a Wagyu beef restaurant that one of our guides recommended to us. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was by far the most comfortable we had out of the 4 hotels we stayed at. Breakfast was brought to our room every day and was always delicious. It was a little strange for a westerner, but still enjoyable! The location could not be better either with easy access to the subways and Gion!

perfectly run facility with well trained staff
Impeccably clean, excellent service and staff went above & beyond for us. We have family of 4- 2 children that are full adults at age 18/21. our room was very comfortable for us and we enjoyed the super clean and fresh hotel room we had, The Location is perfect, right in walking area by Shrines & real Geisha girls walked by our hotel. Staff knew English and were very helpful in getting us ideas for our transit to the Nara Deer Park as well as other places. They showed us on maps, printed us very clear directions, walked outside to show us the way to specific places and even and would even write names in Japanese too for if we wanted to show a Taxi. HIGHLY Recommend. This was I think the best hotel experience in past 20 years and I travel often. Metro/train station in 2 minutes away. Plus we were surrounded by Authentic Japanese restaurants and excellent steak house too. We were able to rent Kimonos, have tea ceremony and even take Samurai lessons - all within couple minutes walk from hotel.

Amazing little gem
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were outstanding. The room we had was a top floor corner room with amazing touches, like electric blinds and curtains. Heated eye masks and face packs in the bathroom. Would highly recommend for its location as well. Right next to the gion area and an easy walk to thr main set of temples.

Best hotel I’ve stayed in
This was a delightful place to stay in the picturesque Gion neighborhood of Kyoto, with great shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel was both elegant and comfortable and offered every amenity imaginable. The staff delivered excellent service at each opportunity, including hot tea on our arrival, hand warmers when we went out for a walk, excellent recommendations and reservations for dinner, and helping us get taxis as needed.
