The hotel is in a great location and our first two nights were amazing, however, after returning from a Milford Sound overnight trip, our third night in the hotel was less than average. We were given a room facing the side of the hotel on a dirty patio. We also asked for a noon checkout and were granted it but shortly after 11:00 we had a mock on our door requesting we vacate the room asap. Not exactly what we were hoping for and the hotel definitely could do better.

Average..and that’s being kind
5 stars for the view and location. That’s it. For what you pay and they call this a 5 star hotel, it’s pretty average and showing its age. The rooms when you look closer need a renovation. Pillows are rubbish. The fridge didn’t even close properly. The balcony is fantastic for the view but when it rains it’s useless as no cover. And it’s dirty and needs a good clean. And I wouldn’t give a good rating for the reception we received. Felt like I was doing them a favour being there. Breakfast ain’t great either….worst omelette ever. All in all this was supposed to be a fantastic end to 3 weeks in NZ….I wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel should do itself a favour and see what Crown Towers in Perth does for the same cost.

The Crown Plaza is situated perfectly, located opposite Lake Wakatipu and on the lower end of the shopping and dining precinct. Everything is within easy walking distance. The room had a balcony and incredible view of Queenstown. The beds were comfy and we took advantage of the pillow options. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

This was our first trip to Queenstown and The Crowne Plaza was the best location. The hotel is toasty warm on a cold day & the staff are extremely welcoming.
