Sadly disappointing
We booked 3 Lodge rooms but only 1 of us stayed in the Lodge - 2 colleagues had rooms in the main building. All rooms where very hot and one of the bathrooms had a razor still left in from the previous occupant. All in all not a great experience.

Disappoint food at dinner and breakfast
Check in process was one of the best experiences of any hotel.
The service from the restaurant staff and bar staff is friendly.
The food needs improvement. The chicken in both of our dinners was tough despite having different meals.
Breakfast isn't up to par, it lacks value for money, and appears that cheap ingredients are used.
You'd expect a country hotel to do better by offering great food, overall, i rate the food 6/10.
Better to book room only, and eat elsewhere.

Downgrade!!
I booked and paid for at the point of booking a suite! When I got here they told me the suite wasn’t available and only a deluxe twin. A room with two single beds just pushed together. There was no offer of a refund or any compensation for paying for a more expensive room then receiving this. I was told that it was due to a leak in the room. Yet there was a wedding at the hotel and they were given the room I had booked and paid for. No honesty and no compensation for the money I had paid.

This is a beautiful traditional country hotel set in lovely grounds. The staff are attentive without being overbearing. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the gardens. We had an afternoon tea which was fantastic, and the two breakfasts we had were delicious. All in all a lovely couple of nights stay, we would definitely recommend a stay here.

Weekend Stay!
The hotel building itself was beautiful and staff were friendly. We were a little disappointed with our room however, it had a small staircase to get too and felt very ‘old’ - must admit the biggest disappointments was the radiator, an oil one! For the price we paid for the two nights, this was a bit of a shame. The bed was comfortable, but the coldness of the room did make us avoid using the bathroom as much as we could too! We didn’t have food in the restaurant but the staff were kind enough to deliver room service for no extra costs. I liked the feel of the main hotel building but wouldn’t really want to stay in the room we stayed in this time again.

Beautiful hotel
Beautiful hotel in a lovely area. Our stay was in a double bedded room with high ceilings, large windows and a good sized bath room. We felt it could have done with air conditioning or at least a fan as the room was very warm and windows only opened 5 inches. I also didn’t like the bed not having a headboard!
The breakfast was great - lots of choice and all the staff we met were very pleasant.

Nice stay, but just a couple of minor points
The walkway down to the Garden Suite is incredibly dangerous in the rain. The pathway needs to be extended all the way down, not plastic decking which holds the water and moves when wet. I went over on my ankle, thankfully my husband was there to catch me.
Also unless you have the curtains shut & the blind down in the room/bathroom, you are on full show to the rooms opposite!
