This is a nice hotel, very clean and a nice made-to-order breakfast included. The staff are pretty quiet and friendly, but only engage you when ask specific questions, even in Spanish. It is easily walkable to the principal Plaza. No AC so a little bit warm and there happened to be street construction occurring right around the hotel, which was a parking inconvenience but other than that not a problem.

This boutique hotel is over 200 years old. The rooms are spacious
Ours had a private patio with a fountain. The staff was very accommodating. The cleanliness and decor was excellent. The rooms do not have air conditioning or heat, so I cannot imagine what it would be like during the summer or winter months. Only one issue I feel the price is too high for the location.

A fantastic stay in a beautiful old building. Our room was beautifully appointed and we got a hearty hot breakfast. The SERVICE was amazing. Fernando greeted us like family and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Mascota, by the way, is well worth the trip

The hotel is quite beautiful and the room we got was away from the main road, so pretty quiet. The one thing that was problematic was the heat. You get an oscilating fan (no A/C) and the room temp was just too much for comfort. The beds were hard and being so close to the mountains, there are all kinds of critters inside the room. Breakfast was included and delicious.
Wonderful experience for our 42nd wedding anniversary. Beautiful old Mexican hotel with antiques throughout. Very large room opening up to a vista of an orange filled tree and lush mountains. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfasts.
Not to forget the dozen fresh red roses in our room and they didn't know it was a special occasion for us.

Lovely B And B in the heart of Mascota
This hotel is a gem. Lovely building, modern updates in the rooms but old world charm is preserved.
Staff is very helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Will definitely stay here again!

Very nice hotel near the plaza
A group of 10 of us stayed for two nights Mesón Santa Elena is an old colonial-era mansion about 4 blocks from the main plaza of Mascota. My room was very spacious and the decorations were nice. I had a king-size bed that was comfortable (unlike the usual slab of concrete that passes for a mattress in Mexico). The bathroom was also spacious, clean, and had a hair dryer and large towels. There was plenty of hot water in the shower, which is not always the case in Mexican hotels. The staff spoke only Spanish, but they were very attentive and helpful and they served a good breakfast. There were a few minor glitches. The room locks were difficult to operate until you got used to their quirks. One woman in my party managed to lock herself in her room because of her difficulty with the lock. The staff rescued her after a few minutes. The TV remote in my room didn't work and we discovered that it had only one of the two batteries required. Most of the channels got poor reception, but that may just be due to the relative remoteness of Mascota. Over all, the hotel was very charming and comfortable, although a bit pricey for Mexican hotels.

Great hotel
We loved it! The hotel is a perfect way to experience a different way of life. A throw back to simpler time when agriculture was the norm. Take in the views and serenity. Enjoy the luxuries of the late 19th century and dare to turn off your device for just one moment as you breathe in the aromas.

Charming, friendly meson
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and accommodations. The staff didn't speak English and our Spanish want great but they were friendly and helpful. The breakfast every morning was custom order and possibly the best meal all day with fresh fruit, coffee and tamales or chiliquias or enchiladas, etc. Finally the inner courtyard was a great place to just hang out in the evenings. Wifi could be weak in some areas but sufficient.

Location is O.K. if you have to go to Mascota
Their website states they speak English - They do Not speak any at all. They asked us to come back in 15 mins so they could clean the Jr Suite we requested. We came back in 30 and they were sweeping - inc. a dead roach - o.k. it's Mexico... The bathroom was remodeled with tile, quite clean, large shower and a double jettted tub! Fluffly towels with their logo, few toiletries and 2 bottles of water. However, no hot water! After letting it run for at least 30 mins. it did get a bit warm but there was only a trickle coming out of the shower head - no pressure. The coffee maker only had one tea bag and sugar packet.
Did have a new flat screen TV (mostly in Spanish even after changing the menu settings) and a safe in the armoire. Also glad there was a blanket as it Cold at night. Was confused as to whether or not Expedia charged my card as they wanted me to pay cash for the whole amount so I did and have monitored my charge card.
