    Grand’Rue is one of the main thoroughfares in the centre of Strasbourg. The straight street is about 1 km long and pedestrian-friendly, so you can wander freely from shop to shop. It's well known for being home to many restaurants, fine food stores, and fashion boutiques.

    A few of the speciality highlights on Grand’Rue include a cheese shop, tea store, leather goods, bookstore, and record store. When it comes to fashion, the street is known to have both independent boutiques and some well-known brands, including Max Mara and The North Face. It provides a nice combination of food, fashion, and speciality items.

    You can browse for anything that you might possibly need at Galeries Lafayette. Expect many sections dedicated to beauty, fashion, jewellery, lingerie, household goods and homewares. If you’re tired from all the shopping, drop by its onsite restaurant and tearoom for a break.

    Marché de la Place Broglie is one of the most popular weekly markets in Strasbourg. The market is set up twice a week in Place Broglie, just a few minutes’ walk from Place Kléber. It’s easily accessible by tram, with the Broglie stop just outside the market area.

    The outdoor market has a variety of vendors selling hot meals, artisan food products, fresh produce, toys, and clothing. Locals often come here to shop for organic fruit and vegetables, but there are also artisan cheeses and bread, street food, and cheap clothing. Marché de la Place Broglie hosts a special Christmas market over the holiday period.

    Strasbourg Christmas Market

    The Strasbourg Christmas Market (Christkindelsmärik) is held every year from late November until December. It takes place on Grande Île, right in front of the Strasbourg Cathedral. The atmosphere of this market is simply magical, especially at night when the streets and Christmas decorative ornaments are illuminated.

    Featuring a festive ambience and a good choice of local products, you'll be taken by the scents of gingerbread and mulled wine while roaming through the stalls. Note this Christmas market is one of the most attended in Europe, so you should book your hotel as early as possible if you want to stay within walking distance from it.
