Loved our short stay - Excellent!
Lovely pub, great food, great rooms, excellent value and dog friendly. What's not to like? A huge "thank you" to everyone we met, who made me, my son and my pup so welcome. Thank you for "the doggy ploughmans!" We'll be back!

OK for the price
Staying for a weekend with our dog to visit family whilst we found the room comfortable it was rather dated and dreary with little natural light. Also there were at least 5 cats living at the pub and so hanging around the building such that we had to be very wary with our dog as he loves to chase them. The restaurant food and service was good.

Lovely time.
Very warm and genuine welcome on arrival. The room was immaculately presented and daily service maintained the same standard throughout our stay. Most of the staff were generally very friendly and efficient. Food was good but the menu could be better. It would be nice to have the option to swap chips for sweet potato fries or jacket potato. Externally the place looks a little tired and ready for a facelift. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay.

Out of the 3 places i stayed on my walk Down Peddars way this would happen to be the best. Place was full of kittens playing in the sunlight and the meal was amazing would strongly recommend and even when back for a meal that week.

I had to remove 4 spiders from our room but perhaps that's to be expected in a nice rural location.

Staff are friendly and attentive, nothing is any trouble. Pub is lovely, didnt try the dinner but looked good and reasonable prices. Property itself, being old, is creaky and a little worn round the edges but it adds to the atmosphere and doesn't takeaway from the cleanliness and attention to detail - room 10, private access from outside, was a good size and spotless, plenty of tea/coffee/sugar n soap stuff, information pack extensive, bed very comfy, pillows a bit hard, blackout curtains were excellent. Breakfast serving was a bit slow but we weren't in any hurry, and you can pre book the night before if you are. No aircon but it is C17th so wasn't expected - we took our own fan. All-in-all we wouldn't hesitate to book again when we're back in the area.
