Great property and beautiful surroundings in the prettiest villages you will find. The staff were great and polite but beware if you are there in the hot summer. There is no AC so the rooms can get pretty hot. The pools is also not heated in the summer and can it is quite frigid.

2/10 Poor

Rundown and unfriendly hotel.
This hotel is very rundown, despite its rather expensive price tag, it’s really only a 2 star. It badly needs money spent on repairs and refurbishment. The male changing rooms sauna was out of order, there was no ceiling light in our room, instead there was an uplighter, but the plug was half broken and unsafe and therefore could not be properly inserted, meaning the light kept flickering or going off completely. One bedside reading light was broken and left hanging downward over the pillow, making it useless in an already dark room with 2 tiny windows.! Wires were exposed and unsafe. The furniture was stained, the walls chipped in many places, the bathroom & furniture outdated. One of the closet handles was partially broken and hanging loose. The check in staff rather unprofessional. We weee told we could not have breakfast (which we’d paid for as an extra) until 9:30am, which was too late to then go skiing, so we were told to order it to the room, but no menu was given to us and the check-in staff forcibly chose for us. We were told we’d be charged again to face it delivered! As it happened, breakfast was late and one of the two couples ended up eating it in the restaurant after all, though the staff there were very rude to us, despite 2/3 of the tables actually being empty! The on-site parking is accessible to all, so other people can park there too and it can be full. A very badly run hôtel indeed. There are newer and better hotels in the area, so shop around.

Beautiful location, not the best 4*
Nice hotel in a beautiful location. However, the wifi didn’t reach the room and when they started preparing the restaurant for dinner you could smell the food inside the room as well.

Lovely Stay in Colorful Arties
We loved both the parador and it location! The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. There was even a towel warming rack in the bathroom. And it is hard to beat a parador breakfast.

Lovely hotel and setting. A bit quiet as we went in low season but would definitely return despite the rather small and not very well lit bathroom.

8/10 Very good

We booked a duplex and found it very spacious and comfortable - also well air conditioned which was much needed in temperatures in the high 30's. Public areas; bar, lounge are great and pool and pool area very pleasant. Information folder in reception provided really good background on the valley. Breakfast room light and pleasant and breakfast range and quality was very good. Reception staff were welcoming and consistently excellent but one of the breakfast staff was on the uncommunicative side. We arrived on a big fiesta day and felt ignored and more of an inconvenience when we tried to order in the bar. Arties itself is a charming village.

Good location next to old village. Good food. Comfortable rooms but squeaky floor boards a problem at night.

It was a fine hotel with fantastic staff. My only complaint, and it's a big one, is that it smelled like there was a plumbing issue.

Perfect base for a Baqueira ski holiday
This was our 3rd short break at the Parador this winter, a 10 minute car ride up to the Baqueira ski station. It is essential to have a car if you want to ski as the public transport up to the ski station isn't frequent. Also, if you are there at peak weekends/school holidays, take an early breakfast to avoid traffic jams up to Baqueira. It is a spacious and comfortable hotel with great facilities: large hotel bar, games room, pool, gym and a fabulous cocktail bar. We've stayed in a standard double room each time, the bedrooms have always been large and the beds comfortable, although the bathrooms on the 3rd floor rooms are a little small. Like many hotel rooms in ski resorts, we found the rooms too hot overnight so kept the window open even when its snowing outside. For us, the real stars of the hotel are a) breakfast buffet: all the standard continental stuff you'd expect, hot dishes & even help-yourself cava to make a bucks fizz with if you aren't hitting the slopes too early b) the cocktail bar tucked at the end of the hotel (not to be confused with the open-plan hotel bar). They make brilliant martinis and cosmopolitans. We didn't have time to try out the hotel restaurant as there are just to many nice bars & restaurants to choose from in Arties village.

Good overnight in small mountain town.
We booked a standard double which was adequate size with a large bathroom. The room has no ventilation other than opening a window in the bathroom and the bedroom (no screens). To avoid road noise, ask for a room facing the back of the hotel. Parking is free, & convenient in the hotel lot. Breakfast was a good, extensive buffet, although no option of custom cooked eggs, but no synthetic egg patties like so many American chains.

Great location
This is a chalet style Parador. The room sizes are good. We had a top floor room which was reasonably sized. Bed was not that comfortable however. The rooms also do not have AC - so in summer these can get very hot. The breakfast buffet is excellent.

Charming decor and great location
This hotel has easy access to the ski resorts in winter and hiking routes in summer. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room has a rustic feel to it although the bathrooms are very modern and spacious.

High in the Pyrenees
The front desk staff member on arrival was excellent, understood my bad Spanish, and was very helpful and knowledgable about the hotel and the area. Location was excellent but I had no need to leave the hotel, food was good quality and well priced, service was unobtrusive and well timed. Room was very comfortable with a good choice of pillows (I'm sure im not the only one fussy about where they sleep and what they have their head on.

Parador de Arties
Whilst easy to find, as located right on the C28, this does mean there is some traffic noise. The bedroom was showing it's age and in need of a refit. Sqeeking floor boards, peeling veneer and electrical sockets that fall out of the wall are not acceptable in my view. All the electrical sockets were in use with the room lamps, so there were no free sockets for laptops and recharging a mobile. Needs to be ammended to meet the needs of 21st century guests. On 18th October almost everything in Arties is closed for the season, so eating out is not really possible, unless you are ready to drive to Veilha. The dinner I was served was disappointing as the steak was mostly fat, not meat and the potatos were some processed potato product, not the oven roasted potatos the menu stated. The buffet breakfast was better. Overall, this was the most expensive hotel of my week in Spain and the least satifactory. I felt it provided poor value for money and puts me off the Parador chain in future.
