a Gem
We stayed at the Hights for two nights and the only regret we have is that it couldn't have been longer, it was a delight to stay here from the minute we arrived until our departure we found the staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite. The hotel room was spacious, clean and quiet. As for the breakfast, this must be the absolute best place to have a very well cooked leisurely breakfast on the island with its stunning views (on a clear day). I will defiantly be back in the summer and would recommend everyone to stay here

Excellent service- staff friendly and helpful A little dated in parts but clean and did the job Excellent buffet breakfast Didn't appear to be a lift which didn't bother us but may be important to others

Wonderful sunsets
We enjoyed our stay especially the wonderful view from the restaurant and bar unfortunately the view from the bedroom was a car park and office block. We had a leak from the toilet in our bathroom but within 5 minutes of reporting it someone came to mend it which was excellent service. All staff were friendly and helpful apart from one or two ladies on reception.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL PLACE !!!!!
Awful experience @ heights hotel. I think the 3 star rating is totally inaccurate. The hotel staff were so unwelcoming and rude. I think the receptionist that greeted us must have missed the customer service course. The first hotel room we were given had an awful smell. The receptionist was blunt and rude when I told her and she reluctantly gave us another room which although wasn’t smelly was small, dark, hot and dirty. The carpet was sticky and dirty. The bulbs in some of the lights had gone. The toilet kept blocking up and there was no toilet brush. The room was something out of the 1940’s with old outdated furniture. No air con. We were unable to open the window to let any air in as it had a catch on it to prevent people from opening it. To finish this awful stay off, the breakfast was cold and dried up. It was a buffet style breakfast and the chef came out and put the new sausages straight on top of the cold old dried up ones. All off the other guests were also moaning. The coffee machine gave half cup of warm milk which was suppose to be coffee. All in all it was the worse hotel we have ever stayed in. I have contacted environmental health to report this hotel before someone goes down with food poisoning. I urge anyone thinking of staying at the heights hotel to think again. AWFUL from start to finish !!!!!!!

47th. Anniversary treat
I’ll start with the good points all of the staff we came into contact with were very pleasant from book in to departure, the hotel itself has pole position on Portland looking down as it does along the magnificent Chesil beach and I would imagine this is a very big selling feature. The purpose of the trip was our 47th anniversary given also my Wife was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer last December and I felt it would give us both an opportunity to put this on the back burner if only for the weekend. On the Saturday evening I had booked a table in the restaurant where we had a two course meal comprising of mains plus sweet, upon leaving the restaurant I think we were united in our opinion that the food on offer was not of a sufficiently high standard to command the high prices charged ! The second night we chose to eat elsewhere at half the cost and infinitely more satisfying. The rooms were of an ample size but I really struggled with the heat on Saturday night (there is no air con only a small fan supplied) which in truth could not keep pace with the ambient temperature. The bed was far to hard and did impact on our nights rest, I did point this out to the receptionist upon checking out. I feel I have given an honest and balanced view of our stay and fully accept that others may disagree , that is their prerogative
