Superb country hotel
Lovely hotel, superb staff and the breakfast was excellent, grounds and ambiance made the stay a very restful one, cannot wait to return in November with the rest of the family!!

A pretty hotel - but over priced 3 star
Reception was good and managed the reservation efficiently. The hotel is is a very attractive picturesque setting with grand old decor. The room was up some stairs (No lift) which was difficult as I have a condition which makes step difficult. The room was quite small for two of us but well decorated. There was no air conditioning and the windows were very difficult to open - it was therefore very hot and uncomfortable in the room. The shower was pathetic and not up to modern standard, the bathroom extractor was not working which left the whole room humid. Breakfast was adequate although nothing to write home about. I have stayed in 100 s of hotels and Overall I would rate this hotel a mid 3 star and a little overpriced for what you get.

Country retreat
We found our room was very dark and the creeper covering the windows didn't help. We had a winter duvet ..( in late June) so we're uncomfortably hot at night. Lovely location but ntmany guests so meals were almost in isolation. Quite a tricky access road from battle.

Business overnight stay
Nice location and hotel but had asked for sandwiches to be left but the chef locked them in the kitchen.

Comfortable room in beautiful setting
The hotel is in beautiful grounds, with easy parking. Rooms are nice, with all facilities you need, including well-equipped bathroom. Good breakfast, helpful staff. Would recommend.

Quiet stay.
Very quiet at night. Stayed in the annexe in a suite, so hats & coats required to make the short walk across to the main building. Room not that warm at first as the corridors were very cold, but warmed up over the two days. Food great, service very good. Just wish they would change the music in the restaurant as we heard the same album 4 times during the weekend.

Anniversay Visit
We were there for our 25th Anniversary and it was made very special by the staff especially the man who served us for lunch/evening meal Saturday night and evening meal Sunday when we were the only ones in the restaurant. I think his name was attilen. He catered for my not intolerance. Food was amazing and the final meal dessert had Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate a wonderful touch. We will be back to try the afternoon tea. Overall only down side was a drunk guest early Sunday morning screaming obscenities which was sort promptly but the staff and in no way was the blame of the hotel. Had the most wonderful time. Thank you

A lovely location and a charming hotel with olde world standards and quality. Having stayed on a several occasions I know there are a number of variations in room size, style and decor - ranging from the very luxurious to the bog standard one might find in mid range chain of city hotels....and often for the same or similar price so it seems that pot-luck and availability influence where you lay your head at night. The public areas are characterful and in keeping with the country house style and the service and food is always exceeding expectation.
