San Nicola Apartment, Naples, Italy

This is an apartment in the historical center of Naples. The neighborhood has very narrow streets (note: cars cannot enter) and no sidewalks. This is something to keep in mind--I was not aware (my fault for not checking on a map). The owners are very nice. The bathroom was added on later, it appears and has a very low ceiling, if you are over 5' 10" it will be impossible for you to use it. Also, you need to ascend three very tall stairs to access the bathroom. Did not bother me, but something to keep in mind before you book. There is AC in the main room, but not in the bedroom so it was quite hot for us (bear in mind we visited during an unusually hot summer). For what we paid, it was appropriate but you should check before booking, to ensure you can cope with all the limitations of this property.

Pros :stylish apartment, nice view on church big bell and surrounding old buildings. Great location near old town and Via Toledo. Comfy bed, bottle of wine and water in the fridge Cons: we reserved the "red room" with a big sofa, and were given another room instead, with a 1 seater sofa. Weak Wifi, dropped out very often. 4 days stay with only one day of hot water. Room not ready at arrival despite many messages sent in advance with our arrival time 3:30 pm. No reception at arrival, big door of the building was closed. Considering not returning there if back in Napoli

location is perfect right in the city centre - the only negative thing is you have to pay in cash ! they don't take payment by credit card - and be aware that the appartments are in the 4th floor without a lift

Owners got in touch the day before to confirm arrival time and were ready at the apartment for us. Apartment has everything you need (tea, coffee and bottle of wine on arrival which was lovely) is a good size, clean and super comfy bed. The location is excellent and only a couple of streets from lots of restaurants and good areas. We had a late flight out and the owners let us have a later check out which was fabulous of them. The only downside is that it backs onto a church and the bells start at 7am which are great as an alarm but less so for a lie in however in a Naples you are never far from a church and I think it is probably the same everywhere. The only other small thing was that there are no english speaking channels on the tv, not even a news channel, but we had fun watching some of the channels and there were a couple of music channels. Overall it is a fabulous apartment with great owners and in a great location and if I went to Naples again I would definitely stay there again.

We found Guiseppe and Ada were a lovely couple who were very helpful in recommending things to see. Ada had the apartment absolutely spotless! Also Giuseppe offered to drive us to the airport after our stay. He also helped with our three bags up the 3 flights of stairs and down again. The apartment is in a1520 old building as are all the apartments but is very well presented and decorated, also very close to most of the attraction, shops and markets. We would definitely stay here again in this historical centre apartment.
