"Really great furnishings. We enjoyed the indoor onsen, which was already on for us at the right temperature when we arrived. The property has a manual in English which allowed us to understand how to operate all of the major appliances like the microwave oven and the washer / dryer.
The check-in process was the most involved of any property we stayed in in Japan."
"We stayed at Ten-Yu in Hakone and had a wonderful experience. The facilities were excellent, and the view from the hotel was stunning – a perfect little break from city life. Our 7-year-old especially loved the “unlimited ice cream,” which made the stay even more memorable for her. The food was overall great, though we noticed that fruit options at breakfast were a bit limited considering the hotel’s price point. Everything else, from the service to the ambiance, was excellent. We would definitely recommend Ten-Yu for a relaxing getaway!"
"Absolutely delightful hotel: helpful staff, clean, comfortable, huge room, wonderful food, free tea/coffee/alcohol whenever you like, japanese robe and towels included. The private onsen was so lovely - don’t be fooled by the photos, it was clean as a whistle, just stained by the minerals in the water. Absolutely enormous amount of all sorts of strange and delicious food for both dinner and breakfast.
I’m staying in hostels pretty much every night of my holiday in Japan but wanted to spend one night having an affordable ryokan experience: this place was by far the cheapest in the Hakone area but I can’t see how it could have been better. Adding be put off by its location, it’s a short very easy bus ride from Lake Biwa; it’s also right next door to a 24 hour convenience store. "
"Everybody was extremely warm and welcoming! We loved our time here, as fantastic as the area is, the staff were even more caring and brought a very relaxing feeling to our stay here. We look forward to returning one day!!"
