Very nice, modern hotel in Mestre, close to Venice Airport, which is why we stayed there. Other than the older, head clerk at the front desk, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Andrea and Stefani in the bar/restaurant.
Problem - no Hotel pickup service from large Mestre train station with un-helpful signage. We exited the wrong side of the station and, with all luggage, went looking for a taxi and ended up on the street in front of the 2-star Hotel Columbo, in an area with boarded up buildings. It was frightening. A call to the Quid front desk for an immediate pickup was met with "we don't call taxis for pickup at other places." Instead, we were told told to go into the Hotel Columbo and ask the clerk there to call us a taxi. It was getting dark, so we did that. Thankfully, the clerk there was a nice man and he recognized our plight and called us a taxi and we safely got out of there. No thanks to the older Quid front desk guy. To compound the problem, when we got to the Quid, he told us the restaurant was closed for a function, and directed us to a 10-minute walk to another restaurant. That walk led us into a desolate nearby, unlit area near the Quid so we just went back to the Quid Bar and had, of all things, cheeseburgers, which were very good.
