Milos

What you need to know before you go

The volcanic island of Milos is perhaps best known for contributing the Venus de Milo to the world of art and culture but is just as noteworthy for its striking landscapes. Right around its coastline, you’ll find weird but beautiful rock formations, as well as some of the best beaches in the Aegean Sea. Further inland, the rugged hills are dotted with picturesque villages and historic remains.

Milos is quite a large island with a very small population, meaning that some areas are still so rugged and undeveloped that rental vehicles are barred from entering them. However, other areas are packed with modern resorts where families enjoy the soft, sandy shore and clear blue seas. In fact, there are more beaches on Milos than you’ll find on any of the other Cycladic islands.
